We are slowly approaching the middle of the second week of the New Year. Above all, we have behind us the technology exhibition CES 2021, which, although it took place virtually due to the pandemic, was, on the contrary, more spectacular than ever before. A large part of the exhibition was also stolen by General Motors, which announced the Cadillac eVTOL flying vehicle. Meanwhile, NASA has been busy preparing for the SLS rocket test, and Facebook, which has legitimate concerns about its employees, cannot be left out. Well, we've got a lot going on today and we have no choice but to jump into the thick of it and introduce you to today's biggest events.

Flying taxi on the horizon. General Motors presented a unique aerial vehicle

When it comes to flying taxis, most of you probably think of companies like Uber, and some may also think of Tesla, which has not yet ventured into anything similar, but it can be expected that it will happen sooner or later. However, General Motors also plays its role in the mass adaptation to air transport, i.e. a giant that has a really turbulent history behind it and, above all, a few important milestones that it can boast of. This time, however, the manufacturer has abandoned ground matters and set itself the goal of going into the clouds, with the help of the new Cadillac eVTOL vehicle, which is intended to serve primarily as an air taxi.

Unlike Uber, however, eVTOL has a few advantages. Firstly, it can carry only one passenger, which evokes short-distance journeys, and secondly, it will be driven fully autonomously. The air taxi is more like a drone, which strives for the most vertical design possible. Among other things, the vehicle boasts a 90 kWh engine with a speed of up to 56 km/h and a whole range of other gadgets that make moving around big cities an experience. The icing on the cake is the elegant appearance and the wonderful chassis, which will outshine even other manufacturers. However, it should be noted that this is still a render and a functional prototype is still being actively worked on.

Facebook warns employees against public use of logo. They fear the consequences for blocking Trump

Although the media giant Facebook has quite a lot of courage and often does not hide behind any commissions, this time this company has crossed the imaginary line. She recently blocked the former US President Donald Trump, for which she received much admiration and success, but the bigger problem is the consequences themselves. Donald Trump will not do much with this step, as he ends his term in less than two weeks, however, this decision really angered his fans. It's one thing to vent your anger on social media, but there is a real risk of dangerous fights.

For this reason as well, Facebook warned its employees not to use the company logo and try not to stand out too much and provoke as much as possible. After all, the attack on the Capitol was a rather unfortunate and bloody incident that further divided the United States. The company is particularly afraid that some supporters will go beyond the law and try to attack Facebook employees, who understandably have nothing to do with the entire act, but the public will perceive them as servants of a company that restricts freedom of expression. We can only wait to see how the situation unfolds. But what is certain is that there will definitely be some consequences.

NASA is preparing for the final test of the SLS rocket. It is she who is to aim for the moon in the foreseeable future

Although we have been talking about the space agency SpaceX almost constantly in recent weeks, we must not forget NASA, which is trying not to rest on its laurels, not to remain in the shadow of its own juice and to offer an alternative way of space transportation. And as it turned out, the SLS rocket, which the company recently tested, should have a lot of credit in this regard. Nevertheless, the engineers have still fine-tuned the details and the last test labeled Green Run is scheduled to take place soon. After all, NASA has really ambitious plans this year, and in addition to preparations for the trip to Mars, the materials for the Artemis mission, i.e. the sending of the SLS rocket to the moon, are also peaking.

Although the entire trip is initially supposed to take place without a crew and will serve rather as a kind of sharp test of how long the rocket will fly and how it will perform, in the coming years NASA is to strengthen and achieve with its Artemis program that people will set foot on the moon again. Among other things, it will also be discussed how to prepare for the trip to Mars, which will not take long if the mission is successful. Either way, the gigantic SLS spacecraft will be taking a look at orbit within the next few weeks, and alongside the Starship test, it's probably going to be the most promising start to the year we could have asked for.
