A few days ago discovered real navigation for iPhone 3G. A much awaited product by many. Until now, the only option was to use the native Maps application for navigation, but since this application required an Internet connection (Google Maps), it was not exactly a suitable companion. Moreover, it was not a classic turn-by-turn application. G-Map comes with offline maps and in addition, G-Map also offers a 3D view in some urban areas.

But don't get too excited, even G-Map isn't perfect. First, they are available at the moment maps for western US only. By the end of December, we will have maps for the eastern US. For Europe the maps should appear sometime in the first quarter of next year. Unfortunately, this navigation does not include voice navigation, which makes its use a bit uncomfortable for drivers. And according to feedback, several users complain about poor stability or the fact that the program is not always able to find them according to the GPS. But many of these issues will probably be fixed in future updates.

US West Coast map apps take up about 1,5GB of your iPhone memory. East coast maps should take up the same space. You buy the application separately for individual areas, but what pleased me the most is definitely its price. A whopping $19.99! We will see if by the time the European maps are released, the app will improve and become the desired app that many drivers are waiting for. Or will Tom Tom or another company finally come with their navigation?
