Apple has released its iOS 16 mobile operating system, the biggest innovation of which is a completely redesigned lock screen. But of course there are more functions and this time it cannot be said too much that the owners of existing iPhones would be beaten in any way. The news in the form of the iPhone 14 and 14 Pro will only get a handful of extra functions.

When you look at iOS 16 official site, there is nothing exclusive to the new generation of Apple iPhones. This is, of course, because information is mentioned here that only comes with iOS 16 to older models. For what else the iPhones 14 and 14 Pro have, you have to go to their product pages.

Features exclusive to iPhone 14 and 14 Pro

  • Dynamic Islands – Of course, this novelty is based on a redesigned cutout, so it is logical that it is only available for iPhone 14 Pro.
  • Always on display – Since Apple was able to drop the adaptive refresh rate of the iPhone 14 Pro displays to 1 Hz, it could finally bring them an Always On display. That's also why it won't add this feature to older models.
  • Car accident detection – The new accelerometer can detect extreme acceleration or deceleration up to 256 g and the high dynamic range gyroscope records extreme changes in the direction of the car's movement. These are iPhone 14 hardware updates, so older models can't get them.
  • Satellite communication – Here, too, the new emergency connection option focuses on new technology, so it is not available in older models.
  • Movie mode in 4K – The movie mode can now shoot videos in 4K HDR at 24 fps, i.e. according to Apple "at the standard of the film industry". Why the iPhone 13 Pro can't do this at least is a question, because the chip has practically not improved in the iPhone 14. The new Photonic Engine is probably to blame.
  • Action mode - Advanced stabilization for handheld video recording is again dependent on the new photo engine, so Apple won't provide this mode to older phones. Or he just wants exclusivity for the news, just like last year with the film mode.

iOS 16 features exclusive to iPhone 13

Last year's iPhones received only two exclusive functions. The first is improved foreground blur in portraits a higher recording quality in movie mode, which is quite logical, because older models do not have this function. Apple says here that shooting videos in this mode creates a more accurate depth of field effect in profile shots and around hair and glasses.
