Foxconn - one of Apple's main suppliers - announced on Sunday that it has reached its planned employment capacity ahead of schedule and therefore has enough workers to meet seasonal demand at all of its Chinese plants. So according to this report, it looks like the fall launch date of the new iPhones shouldn't be in jeopardy.

A number of Chinese factories that supply components to Apple had to be closed in February due to the coronavirus pandemic and the Chinese New Year. After a certain time, some of them reopened, but many employees were in quarantine, and some could not come to work due to the travel ban. Many factories could not fulfill the capacity of the number of their employees. The management of Foxconn expected a return to normal by March 31, but this goal was achieved even a few days earlier.

In connection with the pandemic and the associated restrictions on operations in a number of factories, doubts arose very early on whether Apple would be able to launch this year's iPhones in September. The situation was somewhat complicated by travel bans, which prevented relevant Apple employees from visiting production plants in China. Agency Bloomberg however, it recently reported that the fall release of new iPhone models is still on the cards.

Foxconn says it has implemented strict measures at its facilities to ensure safe and healthy working conditions for its employees. More than 55 of its employees were provided with medical tests by Foxconn, and another 40 with chest X-rays. Production at Foxconn should reach its peak in July in preparation for the release of new iPhones. These should have 5G connectivity, a triple camera, A14 processors and other innovations.
