The history of Lomography dates back to the turn of the 60s and 70s of the last century, where it was as popular as it is today. For some it may be outdated, for others it may be a way of life. In this direction, imperfections are not taken into account, because they are precisely what makes Lomography special. The popularity of this phenomenon is so high that new versions of old camera brands have started to be produced.

Cameras that made Lomography famous:

  • Diana F+ (medium format device)
  • Lomo LC-A, Diana mini (cinematic compacts)
  • Supersampler, Fisheye, La Sardina, Lomokino, Colorsplash

How to take Lomography photos on iPhone:

The basis is the application Hipstamatic, which is based on a plastic analog camera and uses the iPhone's camera to allow the user to take square photos to which they can apply a series of software filters to make the photos look like they were taken with a vintage camera. The user can choose from a number of effects that are listed in the menu such as lenses, films and flashes. Some of them are part of the application, while others need to be purchased separately. Photos from the camera gallery that were not taken in Hipstamatic can also be edited.

  1. Run the application Hipstamatic
  2. Select the icon of three different wheels on top of each other and you will be taken to the camera selection.
  3. Here you can choose either a preset or you can build your own.
  4. In our case, we will try to build our own. Let's tap on +.
  5. We will choose lens, film a lightning bolt and tap on Save.
  6. We name our new device and give Done.
  7. Now the camera is assembled and we can start taking pictures.

The Hipstamatic application can be switched from the old design to a classic camera similar to the native iPhone application, where we can manually set ISO, shutter speed, focus, white balance, color temperature and effects. A big advantage is the possibility of shooting in raw format RAW. There are hundreds of different combinations of how to build your camera in this retro app, so he wants to try and try again. You might discover a new hobby, just like me.
