After eight months, the second wave of support for Apple Pay by other domestic banks is coming. As of today, the service is supported by Fio Banka and Raiffeisenbank, which thus become the eighth and ninth banks in the Czech Republic, respectively, that allow their clients to pay using iPhone and Apple Watch.

Debit cards from Fio Banka and Raiffeisenbank bank can be added to the Wallet application on iOS, iPadOS, macOS and watchOS from early in the morning. However, both mentioned banks officially confirmed their support for the service through press releases only this morning. There is already a special section on the official websites of both institutions where the user can learn how to set up and use the service - you can find the section at Fio Banka here, then on the Raiffeisenbank website here.

However, the support of Apple Pay by both banks was not without limitations. Both Fio Banka and Raiffeisenbank allow the service to be used only with Mastercard debit and credit cards. Fio Banka also adds support for Maestro cards. However, Visa cards from both banks cannot currently be used for payments via Apple Pay, and it is not yet clear when exactly clients will get this option.

How to set up Apple Pay on iPhone:

As of today, nine banking institutions in the Czech Republic offer Apple Pay. Fio Banka and Raiffeisenbank join UniCredit Bank, which added support for the service in mid-July. Since February 19, when Apple Pay was officially launched in the Czech Republic, Komerční banka, Česká spořitelna, J&T Banka, AirBank, mBank and Moneta also allow payments via iPhone and Apple Watch. In addition to those mentioned, it also offers support for four services, namely Twisto, Edenred, Revolut and Monese.

Also in Slovakia, where it is Apple Pay officially available from the end of June, two more banks started supporting the service starting today. Specifically, the Slovak branch of Fio Banka and the local UniCredit Bank also joined.
