In this regular column, every day we look at the most interesting news that revolves around the California company Apple. Here we focus exclusively on the main events and selected (interesting) speculations. So if you are interested in current events and want to be informed about the apple world, definitely spend a few minutes on the following paragraphs.

Apple has released public betas for iOS and iPadOS 14

Last night, after several days of waiting, Apple decided to release the first public beta versions of the iOS and iPadOS 14 operating systems. The release happened shortly after the release of the second developer version. Thanks to this, the general public will be able to try new products from the upcoming systems, the official release of which is scheduled for the fall of this year. To install the mentioned public beta version, you need to have installed a certificate for testing the beta versions themselves, which you can get here. Subsequently, the installation procedure is already standard. Simply open it Settings, go to category In general, choose System update and confirm the update.

These new operating systems bring a number of great innovations. We must definitely not forget to mention, for example, the arrival of widgets, the Application Library, new notifications in case of incoming calls that will no longer disturb us from work, picture-in-picture for multitasking during video calls or watching videos, an improved Messages application, where we can respond directly to the given message and in the case of group conversations, we got the option to mark a group member, who at such a moment will receive a notification about the mention, new memojis with masks and a number of other great novelties related to, for example, maps, Siri, translator, Home, Safari browser, Car Keys , AirPods, App Clips, privacy and more.

Mac sales increased year-on-year again

Apple computers are very popular among users, but they certainly do not occupy a dominant position on the market. The main culprit may be the higher purchase price, when, for example, the competition will offer you a machine several times cheaper. Currently, we have seen the release of new information from the Gartner agency, which confirmed the year-on-year increase in sales of the mentioned Macs. Sales in the second quarter of this year increased by 5,1 percent compared to last year, namely from 4,2 to 4,4 million. It is interesting to see this increase considering the current global situation. This year, the world is plagued by the pandemic of the disease COVID-19, which caused a financial crisis around the world. But Apple is not the only one to improve this year.

Year-on-year growth in the PC market in general rose to 6,7 percent, which is one-tenth more than last year. Lenovo, HP and Dell recorded the best sales, with the Cupertino company in fourth place with its Macs.

Facebook caused several iOS applications to malfunction

Today, a number of users are starting to complain about the non-functionality or freezing of several applications, among which we can include, for example, Spotify, TikTok, SoundCloud, Waze, Imgur and many others. The first information about this problem appeared on the social network Reddit, where Facebook was named as the culprit. The specific error is probably found in the development kit (SDK) of the company of the same name, with which all the aforementioned applications work, where you can log in or register through this social network. They subsequently confirmed the error on official developer site Facebook. According to them, they are aware of the error and are currently investigating it. The current problem manifests itself either in the fact that the applications freeze, or for a change they crash immediately after opening.

Users have already found certain solutions that can be used to avoid the problem quite reliably. For some, it is enough to switch their device to Airplane mode, while others suggest using a VPN connection instead. But the interesting thing is that this is not an isolated problem. Facebook faced the same situation two months ago.

Update: According to the official developer page mentioned above, the problem should have been resolved and the app crashes should no longer occur.
