The last week of the holiday is slowly coming to an end, and it is very likely that (not only) students will be spending this weekend somewhere near the water - weather permitting. Believe it or not, time flies and in a few weeks it will be Christmas again and another year. But let's not get ahead of ourselves unnecessarily and let's take a look together in this article at what happened in the IT world today. In the first two news items, we will look together at how Facebook is starting to have considerable problems with Apple. In the third news, we will then focus on upcoming functions within the WhatsApp application. Let's get straight to the point.

Apple did not allow Facebook to inform users about the 30% share of the App Store

There is probably no need to remind the case of Epic Games vs. Apple, in which the apple company for not following the rules removed the popular game Fortnite from the App Store. The game studio Epic Games simply does not like the fact that Apple takes a 30% share of every purchase in the App Store, just like, for example, Google in the Play Store, Microsoft in the Microsoft Store or Sony in the PlayStation Store. After removing Fortnite from the App Store, Epic Games filed a lawsuit against Apple, alleging that the Californian giant is abusing its monopoly position. However, this plan did not work out very well for the Epic Games studio, so it began to "recruit" other companies that also have a "problem" with Apple's 30% share. Spotify was the first company recruited, and Facebook was one of the others.

In the latest update, Facebook decided to come up with interesting tools that would be used primarily by influencers, businessmen and various businesses. According to Facebook, these tools are intended to help all the aforementioned entities recover from the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic. However, even after several attempts, this update did not reach the public in its original form, as Apple simply banned it. As part of this update, Facebook has decided to inform Apple users with each purchase that Apple is taking a cut of the aforementioned 30% share. As the reason for banning the original update, the Californian giant states that it provides irrelevant information to Facebook users. In addition, it is probably clear to each of us that this is more or less a provocation. It should be noted that this information is not available in the Facebook application for Android - instead, you will find information that Facebook does not receive any commission from the purchase. The mentioned update finally reached users, but without the mentioned knowledge of the 30% share. Companies are constantly trying to play with Apple, but it won't back down at any cost - and it doesn't matter if it's Facebook, Fortnite or Spotify.

With the arrival of iOS 14, there was a problem with Facebook ad targeting

Within all of its operating systems, Apple strives to keep users and their data as safe as possible. With each new update, the security of users increases with the help of various tools, which is of course great for us. On the other hand, however, great data protection creates wrinkles especially for advertisers, for example on Facebook. The problem is that Apple protects user data about web browsing when browsing through Safari, so Facebook, and thus advertisers, can't precisely target ads - because they don't know what we're interested in and what we're searching for. Because of this, smaller profits are made and advertisers are slowly starting to target other less active users more. Facebook says that there could be up to a 50% drop in ad revenue across all of its social networks. Of course, this is bad news for Facebook and other companies that benefit mainly from advertisements, but users as such at least see that the security of Apple systems is not just for the eye. What is your opinion on this? Are you happy that Apple protects your user data, or is the protection too much for you at times?

WhatsApp is preparing an interesting news

If you have been a WhatsApp user for several years, you are certainly aware that all the data from this application can take up a really large part of the storage space. Of course, WhatsApp includes a kind of storage manager where you can see which conversations are taking up the most storage space. However, it should be noted that this administrator is not processed perfectly and, in addition, you have to go through individual chats one by one, which is not pleasant. However, there should be a change for the better in a future update. According to available information, WhatsApp is going to completely overhaul the storage manager in the application. Various filters for all files will be available, and you will also be able to sort files from the largest, which will make storage management much easier. For now, however, this new feature is in development and it is not clear when exactly we will see it. You can check out the first screenshot in the gallery below.
