We are at the end of the 34th week of 2020. There has been quite a lot going on in the IT world in the last few weeks - we can mention for example potential ban on TikTok in the United States of America, or perhaps the removal of the popular game Fortnite from the Apple App Store. We will not focus on TikTok in today's summary, but on the other hand, in one of the news, we will inform you about the latest tournament that the game studio Epic Games is organizing in its game Fortnite for iOS users. Next, we'll let you know that Facebook is shutting down the old look completely, and then we'll look at the aftermath of the failed Adobe Lightroom 5.4 iOS update. No need to wait, let's get straight to the point.

Facebook is turning off the old look completely. There will be no going back

It has been a few months back that we witnessed the introduction of a new look within the Facebook web interface. As part of the new look, users could try out, for example, the dark mode, the overall look looks more modern and, above all, more agile compared to the old one. Even so, unfortunately, the new look found a lot of detractors, who enthusiastically and proudly clicked the button in the settings that allowed them to go back to the old design. However, after introducing the user, Facebook pointed out that the option to return to the old design will not be here forever, quite logically. Of course, why should Facebook care about two skins all the time? According to the latest information, it seems that the day when it will no longer be possible to go back to the old design is inexorably approaching.

Facebook's new web interface design:

Facebook's web interface should completely switch to the new design sometime next month. As usual, the exact date is not known, as Facebook often launches these news globally within a certain period of time. In this case, the period of time should be set to one month, during which the new look should be automatically set for all users irreversibly. In the event that one day you log into Facebook within the web browser and instead of the old design you see the new one, believe that you will not get the option to go back. Users simply can't do anything and have no choice but to adapt and start actively using the new look. It is clear that after a few days of use they will get used to it and in a few years we will find ourselves in the same situation again, when Facebook gets a new coat again and the current new look becomes the old one.

Epic Games is hosting the final Fortnite tournament for iOS

If you follow the events in the apple world with at least one eye, then you certainly did not miss the case of Apple vs. Epic Games. The aforementioned game studio, which is behind the currently most popular game called Fortnite, seriously violated the conditions of the Apple App Store. The Epic Games studio simply did not like the fact that Apple takes a 30% share of every purchase made in the App Store. Even before you start judging Apple from the fact that this share is high, I would like to mention that Google, Microsoft and Xbox or PlayStation also take exactly the same share. In response to the "protest", Epic Games added an option to the game that allowed players to purchase in-game currency through a direct payment gateway and not through the App Store payment gateway. When using the direct payment gateway, the price of the in-game currency was set $2 lower ($7.99) than in the case of Apple's payment gateway ($9.99). Epic Games immediately complained about the abuse of Apple's monopoly position, but in the end it turned out that the studio did not succeed in this plan at all.

Of course, Apple immediately pulled Fortnite from the App Store and the whole affair could begin. At the moment, it looks like Apple, who is not afraid of anything, is winning this dispute. He is not going to make an exception due to the violation of the rules, and for now it seems that he has no plans to return Fortnite to the App Store, and then he announced that he is going to remove the developer account of Epic Games from the App Store, which would kill some other games from Apple. It should be noted that Apple hasn't completely removed Fortnite from the App Store - those who had the game installed can still play it, but unfortunately those players won't be able to download the next update. The nearest update in the form of a new, 4th season from the 2nd chapter of the Fortnite game, is scheduled to arrive on August 27. After this update, players simply won't be able to play Fortnite on iPhones and iPads. Even before that, Epic Games decided to organize the last tournament called FreeFortnite Cup, in which Epic Games gives away valuable prizes on which Fortnite can be played - for example, Alienware laptops, Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 tablets, OnePlus 8 phones, Xbox One X consoles or Nintendo Switch . We'll see if this situation is somehow resolved, or if this is really the last tournament in Fortnite for iOS and iPadOS. Finally, I'll just mention that Fortnite has also been pulled from Google Play - however, Android users can easily bypass the installation of Fortnite and continue playing.

Lost data from Adobe Lightroom 5.4 for iOS is unrecoverable

It's been a few days since we got the Adobe Lightroom 5.4 update for iOS. Lightroom is a popular application in which users can easily edit photos. However, after the release of version 5.4, users began to complain that some photos, presets, edits and other data began to disappear from the application. The number of users who lost their data began to increase steadily. Adobe later acknowledged the bug, saying that some users had lost data that wasn't synced within Creative Cloud. In addition, Adobe said that unfortunately there is no way to recover the data that users have lost. Fortunately, however, on Wednesday we received an update labeled 5.4.1, where the mentioned error is fixed. Therefore, every Lightroom user on an iPhone or iPad should check the App Store to make sure they have the latest available update installed.
