The very popular Facebook Messenger is about to get a major update and undergo the biggest changes in its lifetime. The new version is already being tested on Android by a limited number of users, so it is known what Messenger will look like in the near future. The application was completely rewritten and its overall philosophy underwent a radical change. The service basically turns away from Facebook as such. Messenger (the word Facebook has been dropped from the name) ceases to be a social network and becomes a pure communication tool. The company is thus entering a new battle and wants to compete not only with well-established services such as WhatsApp whether Viber, but also by classic SMS.
The future Messenger will distance itself from Facebook's social elements and use only its user base. The application is no longer intended to be a supplement to Facebook, but a completely independent communication tool. Functionally, the new Messenger does not differ much from its previous versions, but at first glance you can see that this time it is a completely separate application with its own design elements. The application is dressed in a new guise that emphasizes the most visible separation from Facebook. Individual user avatars are now round and have a mark directly on them that shows whether the person is using the Messenger app. It is therefore immediately clear if the person in question is immediately available, or if they will only be able to read the message when they log in to their Facebook account.
The company plans to use their phone numbers to identify users, as is the case with the aforementioned Viber a WhatsApp. When you start the application for the first time, it will ask you for your number and then assign your Facebook ID to the contacts in your address book. You will be able to write easily and for free even to people who are not in your friends list. This step also corresponds with the separation of the social network Facebook and the powerful messenger Messenger.
There are a really huge number of applications for Internet communication on the market, and it is extremely difficult to stand out and succeed in the flood of them. However, Facebook has a community completely incomparable to all other players in the market. While WhatsApp has a respectable 350 million active users, Facebook has more than a billion. Messenger thus has a potential user base on which to build, and thanks to the future version of the application, it will catch up with its competitors in terms of functionality as well. Via Facebook Messenger, you can already send files, multimedia content, and even make full-fledged phone calls. Facebook is thus a company that can suddenly break the stalemate on the market and come up with a communication solution suitable for practically everyone. Many users would certainly appreciate the possibility of relying on a single application and not having to use dozens of different tools to communicate.
I thought it was interesting, but only until I found out that I would have to enter a phone number there and then it would match FB contacts with those in my contacts.
And why is this a problem?
For example, I don't want FB to reach into my contacts and assign them a FB identity. I assume that it could only be within the app, but I don't even have FB login details in my IP, because then he wanted to synchronize contacts with friends on FB. And if the big brothers already know everything about us, they don't need to know even more :-).
If there was a possibility that it would only load my friends and I would get to the online chat after entering the login data on FB, then ok, but I will probably skip this application
If I survived without Facebook, without its messenger for sure. Minimally due to the fact that no one produces better software than fcb. Why make life miserable?
give facebook your phone number? no. :)
Well, now Facebook will have an overview not only of communication inside its platform but also of communication outside it. How he will "use" it is probably clear to everyone. So, try as you might Facebook, your new Big Brother will definitely not find a place on my "smart" phone,
How to switch between honors, it was possible in the old version.
