Facebook has launched Messenger for web browsers. An unofficial application for Mac has already been released

Messenger is one of the most used parts of Facebook. That's why earlier message separation has occurred from the rest of the social network on mobile devices, and now Messenger is coming separately to web browsers as well.

Facebook also wants to offer users on computers the same experience as on mobile devices, i.e. to communicate with friends undisturbed by other events on the social network. Web Messenger can be found at Messenger.com and you just need a Facebook account for it. (The service is not yet available to all users at this time.)

Once you log in, you'll be in the familiar Facebook environment. On the left is a list of conversations, on the right is a window of a specific chat, and if your browser window is wide enough, a panel with information about the user, a link to his profile and a button to mute the conversation, and in the case of a group conversation, a list of its members will appear.

There is no problem sending pictures or stickers in the web Messenger either. But unlike mobile devices, Facebook promises that (at least not yet) it is definitely not going to remove the chat function from the main page of the service.

Messenger should already be available on the site for "English speaking users", we managed to activate it by simply switching Facebook's language to English. Web Messenger should be operational for Czech users in the coming weeks.

If you would like to have Facebook Messenger as a Mac app, you can give it a try the unofficial Goofy client, which does pretty much exactly what the web version of Messenger does now, only it's a native app sitting in the dock.

Developers immediately responded to the new web Messenger, and within a few hours an unofficial but native application for Mac appeared on the Internet. This is a similar venture to the aforementioned Goofy, only now the content is downloaded directly from the dedicated Messenger.com website.
