It wouldn't be a good day without some new information appearing in our daily coverage regarding Facebook and Google, two tech giants with a rather infamous history regarding user privacy and trust. This time, according to the independent and non-profit organization Amnesty International, both companies are guilty of indirectly supporting censorship and suppression of personal rights in Vietnam. Such an evergreen is also some new cosmic phenomenon, this time in the form of one million newly discovered galaxies. And some of the minor curiosities of the day must not be missing either, which this time is in the spirit of the beloved and hated Bitcoin. Well, let's jump into the whirlwind of events.

Up to a million other galaxies have been discovered in the universe. CSIRO exceeded all expectations

Have you ever wanted to bring home a cute little alien ET? Well, we probably won't grant you this wish, but we have another, absolutely wonderful news for you. Scientists from the Australian Astronomy Program within the CSIRO agency have come up with a new and rather groundbreaking discovery, which is in the spirit of up to a million newly discovered galaxies. It is thus officially one of the largest and most complex attempts to map that unknown and still somewhat shocking space we call the universe. At the same time, the project exceeded expectations not only in terms of scope and intensity, but also in speed, which will probably wipe your eyes. Astronomers blew the entire discovery in just 2 weeks.

One way or another, the constellation of a number of antennas and telescopes called ASKAP, which consists of up to 36 smaller components, took part in the investigation of the eternal darkness. They took hundreds of pictures in the last two weeks and filmed a total of 300 hours of movement. Thanks to this, scientists were able to analyze the data and transform the previous map into something completely new. However, this is far from the end of the entire project, on the contrary. Mapping the visible universe was only the first step towards a full understanding of how many galaxies exist around us and how they actually form and disappear. During the next 5 years, scientists will complete the map and try to discover hidden treasures. Let's see what else awaits us in the depths.

Bitcoin is back in full swing and stronger than ever. Its price again broke the record

He disappeared from the public eye for a long time, stopped breaking records and, above all, the media largely lost interest in him. We are talking about the beloved and hated Bitcoin, that is, a digital cryptocurrency that has been moving around the virtual world for 12 years. It was in 2008 that an unknown creator founded blockchain technology and described its operation in more detail. Since then, Bitcoin has gained momentum, breaking an imaginary record in 2017, which was reported by the media around the world, and cryptocurrencies have become an attractive investment, especially for newcomers and amateurs. But it didn't take long for the digital gold coin to sink into the depths. Its price fell by up to 80% in some places, and the only ones who still believed in cryptocurrencies were die-hard supporters.

But it wouldn't be Bitcoin if it didn't come up with some real surprise, this time in the form of another disproportionate growth. The sudden popularity is mainly due to Square, which officially announced a 50 million investment in cryptocurrencies, as well as PayPal, which makes it possible to pay with Bitcoin almost everywhere in the world. This, led by the pandemic and distrust of centralized systems, has shot cryptocurrencies to the stars, and especially Bitcoin, which hovered around $19 on Monday. He officially broke all previous records and made history. In any case, it remains to be seen which direction the price will continue to take and whether this is another passing trend or Bitcoin will overcome its sometimes negative reputation.

Facebook and Google got through again. This time from Amnesty International for censorship

If you are actively interested in politics, international events or local conflicts in general, you certainly have not missed the organization Amnesty International, which functions as a non-profit objective observer that alerts the appropriate active authorities in the event that they discover any injustice or suppression of human rights and freedoms. And as it turned out, this time the organization's mighty hammer was aimed at Google and Facebook, two tech giants that have a knack for censorship and suppression of freedom of expression. In the 78-page report, the workers mention censorship in Vietnam in particular, where both companies actively participate in it and cooperate with the local government.

Although Vietnam is not nearly as bad as, for example, China or Belarus, according to Amnesty International, internet content is being blocked, data flow is being affected, and above all, information is being edited to suit the ruling class. Of course, there is also the classic in the form of silencing users and trying to discredit any opposition. In addition, up to 170 people were jailed for their opinion, without a proper trial. The organization Amnesty International thus criticizes in particular the reluctance of the two giants to do anything about this burning problem, or their reticence regarding cooperation with the government. We'll see if the situation turns for the better, or if we're in for another protracted case.
