Facebook recently announced that it is canceling this year's F8 Developer Conference. It was supposed to take place at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, where last year's WWDC was also held. The organizer justified the cancellation of the conference with concerns about the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus and announced an alternative plan that is safer.

Facebook said that instead of holding the conference live as it has in past years, the company will hold smaller local events, livestream or release videos to introduce developers to new features. The company states that it was a difficult decision, the safety and health of the participants is for ni but it is more important and therefore does not want to risk that developers from all over the world could inadvertently become infected with a dangerous virus.

So far, 83 cases have been confirmed, of which 634 have been fatal. On the other hand se estimates that around 30 people have already been discharged from hospital and recovered. In an attempt to prevent its spread, China implemented several measures, some of which were also applied by Italy, which is the most coronavirus disabled countries in Europe.

However, the cancellation of the Facebook F8 conference is not the only decision that can show what can happen to other conferences as well. This year's GDC conference then he will be a little poorer. Not only Microsoft, but also Facebook, Electronic Arts and Sony PlayStation, which was speculated to introduce the latest console, canceled their participation. Apple said it is closely monitoring the situation and is for něj the primary safety of employees, partners, customers and suppliers not only in China. But it is not yet clear whether Apple will decide to cancel this year's WWDC, following the example of other companies, or transform it in a different way. The company could potentially use its WWDC app to broadcast content to registered developers without having to attend the event. However, a question mark hangs over the introduction of the new generation of operating systems. Even here, however, Apple could hold a smaller event at its own headquarterse.
