The long-awaited new version of the Facebook app for iPhone is now available for download on the Appstore. This is no small update, Facebook 3.0 is a completely redesigned original Facebook application. The iPhone finally got a proper Facebook application.
Joe Hewitt announced it on his Twitter and you can install it on your iPhones right now. If iTunes or iPhone tells you that there is still only version 2.5 on the Appstore and does not even offer you an update, just uninstall the application and then reinstall it, the new version 3.0 will already be downloaded.
Joe Hewitt really nailed the new user interface and you will definitely like the new iPhone app. Maybe now I'll even start using my Facebook account more. :)
UPDATE 28.8. – The author promised that in version 3.1 he will focus on the ability to hide certain people from the wall and hide notifications from apps! I'm finally getting rid of quizzes.
But there were also problems. For some, the application is unstable, the application does not display birthdays properly, and above all, a significant privacy bug has appeared. If you have set that certain posts should only be shown to a certain group of people, then this will not be the case with the Facebook application. Posts sent from the iPhone application will be visible to absolutely everyone! The author has already submitted the update to the Appstore, but approval will take some time.
There was also an issue where someone's iPhone stopped working after installing Facebook 3.0 and only an iTunes restore helped! After the first start, the iPhone allegedly freezes and then has to be restarted (hold the Home button + the power button for a few seconds). But even after restarting the iPhone, it doesn't work as it should. The same problem appeared in the discussion below this article. For now, we don't know what caused this problem, whether it's a jailbreak, an older version of the iPhone OS, or something else. Be careful!
I was very pleased with this update, the new user interface is flawless. Finally, an almost full-fledged use of mobile Facebook
well, then it crashes :(
Well, it's very disgusting with the freezing, luckily everything is OK for me, but I wouldn't really want to do a restore with a jailbroken iPhone
It looks much better, but there are already rumors that it is not stable at all. I can confirm this with OS 3.1 beta 3, but that's still beta. However, the problem will probably be on the side of the app creators.
My iPhone blew up, it fell, froze, hard reset doesn't help, always only apple or it turns off, you need to restore via iTunes. according to info from various websites, I'm not the only one with the same problem
You don't need to delete the previous version :) Just click on Get App and it will then offer to upgrade the existing version :)
Great app.. we couldn't wait for it to come out. The fly will finally catch it
What's the point of checking from Apple when an application that blocks the phone gets through?
robo: And do you have JB? Which iP version and which FW version? (It'll be a little more useful, hey ;)
Reaction to the update article: I have an official iPhone 3G 16 GB from T-Mobile SK and the latest available OS, I have never had a jailbreak, so there will be no error
OS 3.0, jailbreak, I updated through the iPhone appstore and it runs without problems. No freezing, nothing.
well, now I would be interested. The approval process takes x days. Apple "j..e" for every stupidity and bans everywhere. But what surprises me is that they release a non-functional application into the world that causes HW to freeze, etc...
If only HW freezing. After installation, I had to completely reinstall Xcode, iTunes and restore again to 3.1B3, because neither Xcode nor iTunes saw the iPhone. Aperture, Image Capture and iPhoto saw it.
I have 3.0.1 JB and it runs without any problems and it definitely looks better than the previous version, but it's a bit unusual again :D
Well, I can't respond again, I can't help comments, I can't send, there's an error, iphone 8gb 3G jb OS 3.0
FW 3.01 without JB
After the first installation it did not start, after the second it works. However, the Notification cannot be displayed. It keeps saying an error. :(((
So I report that the application runs smoothly on the iPhone "Old School" 16gb 3.0 FW JB, the phone did not freeze and I cannot praise the application enough, so the greatest satisfaction =)
so and the iphone is in pi….
of course the phone is originally from vodafone and has never had a jailbreak...
And the appstore goes to ***...now I also got the purchased applications...thanks to the restor
thanks for the censorship, it turned me off a bit... I installed the update just by chance and now I'm looking at what a lot of people are doing for mischief... but it's definitely not the jailbreak's fault...
iPhone 3G 8GB, FW 3.01
I installed it without any problems and it works without any problems. I don't have push notifications turned on or any app that can do push installed. Imho, I think a dog could be buried in it...
Here with JB 3.0 3G completely fine. I don't understand how a sandboxed app can crash the system? And if that's the case, let Apple finally go to hell with its approval process!
The application gives me problems even after a few drops. A very successful update, finally almost full-fledged FB on the iPhone.
It works for me without any problems on iPhone 3G, OS 3.0.1 without JB.
I like it too. I wouldn't see it as tragic. But if it has some hidden bugs, I'm too short for that... Otherwise, I also agree that if Apple is already doing such "tricks" with approval, it should run on all devices. I have T-Mobile 3G, firmware 3.0 with JB.
Version 3.01 - "Bug's Fixed" has already appeared on the AppStore, so it might be cool. My version ran without problems.
3GS JB 4.0.1 and facebook does not work. So let them pile it up. Pry it's caused by JB
