Pardubice is the first city in which the display of Public Transport (MHD) connections works in Google Maps. And not only on the web, but of course also on the iPhone. We have tried everything for you and you will find selected pictures in the article.
If you use Pardubice public transport or are going to, for example, Velka Pardubická, then searching for public transport connections directly from your iPhone could come in handy. How to do it? Just open the Maps app, click on Navigate at the bottom, then select the start and end of the route. You can directly write two addresses or set the start of the route as Current location, where you are now. The maps will then choose where to go to the nearest stop and what time the given train leaves for you. In this way, we can easily and quickly get to the winter stadium, for example, without knowing where exactly we are. You can see how the iPhone connection search looks like in the pictures.
Of course, Pardubice public transport is also displayed on the Google Maps website. The procedure is similar and you can view the result. Let's hope that other cities with their public transport will join us soon.
Thanks to Petr Koubský (@petrkou on Twitter) for the tip.
great, now expand it to all cities, possibly also to buses between cities
Haha, I tried to get a route from Holešovice (Pha7) to Anděl (Pha5) within Prague. The maps advised me to walk to Florenc, take the Student Agency bus to Knížecí and walk to Anděl...Prague public transport is absent, but you can see that something is happening, so hopefully we will see it soon :)
Too bad Google isn't even smarter. Specifically, from Polabin in Pardubice, Valčíkova street, it is approx. 100m to the Kpt. Bartoše stop. Unfortunately for Google, this route is on a sidewalk and across a parking lot. So Google sends me 0,5 km to the Kosmonautů stop. The next connection (1 min. later) is already from the stop from which locals travel, but Google navigates me to it as if someone was driving me to it. Similarly, pedestrians will not find a sidewalk that leads through the entire housing estate and a large park. Instead, they take the same route as for the car, which is considerably longer. Too bad, still have to pick up those sidewalks.
It's still progress, thanks.
(note; Pardubice Valčíkova -> Pardubice Sukova třída)
2Jiri Pilar: the new website looks perfect and I welcome the mentioned service as Pardubak with enthusiasm.
Thanks for that
PS: I agree with Jablickare's question regarding the inclusion of this data in google maps...
Jablickar, do you remember when I pointed out the new bus, tram and subway icons in Google Maps? I thought it was hard work :-) great
I really like the description, but it definitely won't fit as a post, besides, I'm mostly here from the iPhone. Only the advanced service is integrated in Google Maps, but it is called Google Transit. If there is interest, I will prepare a separate article for this server. Otherwise, Pardubice is the first in CR, but Florance (the EU Google manager) showed us on Android how she does great with Google Street View, for example in Paris, and the service also includes complete transport in Austria. Google Street View, which is being prepared not only for Prague, but also for ZOO Dvur Kralove, which is (quite immodestly also my projectionist).
Jiri Pilar: So I'm really looking forward to Dvur Kralove in Street View and I take my hat off to you! If you had time and described everything to us in a separate article, it would be perfect and I would definitely like to publish such an article here on 14205.w5.wedos.net!
Of course I'd love to, because I'm changing jobs at the moment. Even if I have a lot of work, I will find time for this. I will continue in similar pioneering steps, only under a different brand :-)
Gentlemen, I was quite unpleasantly surprised, but public transport does not work even in Sydney. So all the others who are not from Pardubice, don't worry about it. =)
