Starting today, Equa bank clients can pay via Apple Pay. Clients can use this service not only when paying at merchants, but also when paying in e-shops or contactless cash withdrawals from supported ATMs. Users can also look forward to maintaining all the benefits and rewards that Equa bank provides when paying with a classic payment card.

"Apple Pay is another service we are launching in the field of digital banking. Our clients are increasingly using our mobile application, which is gradually replacing the use of internet banking or traditional payment cards. Currently, every second client uses our mobile application, and the number of its users is still growing. Interest in mobile payments is also growing. We are therefore happy that we can extend our services to include Apple Pay and thus make the possibility of paying by mobile phone available to all our clients." said Jakub Pavel, director of retail banking at Equa bank.

"The rise in popularity of mobile payments in the Czech Republic is astounding and confirms that Czechs are innovative enthusiasts. Apple device owners are the most active of them. According to surveys by Mastercard, almost twenty percent of Czechs currently pay by mobile phone, and even almost one third of people under 50 years of age. From the point of view of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, the Czech Republic is at the top in terms of the number of payments per month. The expansion of mobile payments is also facilitated by the fact that almost all payment cards are contactless," stated Luděk Slouka, Mastercard's Director of Product Development and Innovation for the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Austria.

Payments using Apple Pay after holding the device to a terminal or ATM require verification of the transaction using Face ID, Touch ID or entering a code on the phone's display. The technology is supported on iPhone 6 or later, iPad tablets with Touch ID or Face ID, Apple Watch, and Mac computers with Touch ID (currently only MacBook Air and MacBook Pro).
