Commercial message: There are dozens of educational agencies and training centers on the Czech market that try to adapt their course offerings to trends in education. Among them, however, there are only a few who set these trends themselves. Among them is Brno's Engeto, cooperating with more than fifty companies, which have almost two hundred graduates of Engeto courses among their employees. There are mini international corporations such as IBM, Kiwi.com, EmbedIT, AT&T or CGI. In the second half of April, Engeto launches its traditional twelve-week programming academies in Python and Linux. This year, however, they will take place differently for the first time – completely online.

Where is IT education going?

Currently, most providers of educational activities are responding to the situation caused by the spread of the coronavirus and are reworking their products in a fully digital form. However, this is not enough nowadays. "When we thought about where education, especially in the IT field, is going, we tried to take into account three areas as much as possible - the use of technology, the perception and approach of companies and the experience and experience of students," says Marian Hurta.

What does this mean in practice? In terms of technology, it is key interactivity – exercises, tests, interactive videos or perhaps chatbots. The following has been a popular term for several years gamification. This is a long-term trend that keeps students motivated for longer and, according to many studies, happier during their studies. Teaching is usually conceived as a game and some form of award is prepared for individual parts or levels. Another important trend, according to Enget, is the so-called adaptive learning. Simply put, based on the analysis of the student's requirements and his study results, the educational platform recommends him additional content and courses. By continuously evaluating how the student is doing, the platform ensures that the student receives the right content at the right time. And last but not least, it comes to the line analytics (i.e. Rich Learning Analytics), which, on the other hand, helps to optimize learning content and tests based on data from students. For example, if the system assesses that 90% of students will make a mistake on a given test, the system can automatically inform the content creator to adjust the explanation of the material, add better content that better explains the material, or choose a different form of instruction.
