Yesterday, with the arrival of the new watchOS 5.2, the ECG function on the Apple Watch Series 4 expanded to 19 countries in Europe. Unfortunately, the Czech Republic and Slovakia were not among them. Even so, there is a way to activate the ECG on the Apple Watch from the Czech Republic. And you don't even have to own a model from Germany or some other country where the feature is available.

According to the experience of several users on Facebook a Twitter, to activate the ECG, just connect your iPhone to the operator's network in the country where the function is available. All you have to do is take a trip a little over the border with Germany or Austria, log in to the network of one of the operators there and activate the function. In the case of Slovakia, you just need to take a trip to Hungary or Romania, where EKG is now also available. If you live in a border area, you don't even need to travel many times and after switching operators, the function can be activated from the comfort of your home.

The good news is that you don't have to own an Apple Watch from distribution for Germany or Austria. Activation also works on models for the Czech and Slovak markets. However, if you bought the watch in Germany, for example, then according to interested users, there is no need to travel abroad to activate the ECG – the novelty is automatically offered in the Czech Republic as well.

However, keep in mind that the watch must be updated to watchOS 5.2 and the iPhone to iOS 12.2 before the trip. If you own a model from the USA and you have already activated the ECG some time ago, then you do not need to worry about updating the new system. Based on user experience, the measurement is functional even after the update.
