One of the largest sellers of electronic books - eReading.cz started lending e-books on October 7, 2013.
The eReading.cz portal is the first in the Czech Republic to introduce electronic book lending technology. Readers therefore do not have to buy e-books, but can simply borrow them for a period of three weeks. Those interested can read them on the new eReading.cz e-ink readers START 2, START 3 light and also in mobile applications for Android and iOS.
"Our goal is to make books available to the widest possible range of readers and at the same time support contemporary creators," says eReading.cz founder Martin Lipert and adds: "eReading.cz has been the main driver in the field of e-books in the Czech Republic since its inception. We were the first to come up with our own e-ink reader, we are the second in the world to allow newspapers to be sent to it, and now we are coming with another novelty that is only available to selected global distributors. We see this as a big step forward and believe readers will appreciate this option.”
Price
All e-book rentals will be available from CZK 49, for a period of 21 days. Václav Kadlec, director of Albatros Media, the largest publishing group in the Czech Republic, points out: "We are witnessing a declining book market. We believe that with this project we will increase the availability of literature and, on the other hand, ensure that authors, translators, illustrators and other co-creators have enough funding for their work."
Availability
Borrowing will only be possible via the new eReading.cz START 2, START 3 readers or via the eReading.cz application for Android and iOS. Users will be able to open purchased loans on all supported devices at the same time.

From 49 possible, but mostly it is around 70 kc :-(
Great idea, but it's still too expensive :(
for 10 CZK ok, but for 49? Someone must have lost their mind
Well, it's a good flight, when in a normal library, a book is usually available for around 1 CZK per day...
For 50 CZK per year and as much as you want :-)
Or so :-)
I have a library card, but if I want to read something new, then:
1. It is not in the library for approx. 1-2 months and there are waiting lists for the next approx. 6 months
2. Sometimes I just go and buy it and after reading it I put it in a second-hand bookshop (I get about 1/3 of the price back - they won't give more)
3. I try to find friends who bought it and have already read it, but I am often in almost the same waiting line as in the library.
So usually about 50 CZK for reading the news is not much for me.
50 CZK for reading a news item is not much, but the news items are not there for 49 :-) ... And 21 days to read some (mega) books, for example by King, is not enough for me
