In today's review, we will introduce the E-ADD'S application for iPhone and iPod touch, which will help you especially when shopping. It serves as a database of food "E" in which you can easily search and enter individual types.
E-ADD'S offers very simple and intuitive operation. When starting the application, you actually have a choice of only three menus, namely "Search", "List" (list of all e-mails), "Info". First, let's look at the search menu, in which you enter the name of the relevant food "E" using the displayed keyboard, and then you will get the necessary information about it. Such as name, group, description and color-coded riskiness.
Riskiness can take on the following values:
- "Permitted" or holidays are marked in green.
- "Unpermitted" are marked in blue.
- "Forbidden" are marked in orange.
- "Dangerous" are marked in red.
Furthermore, food items are divided into individual groups, you can find these groups in the "List" menu:
- All additives by name.
- Colors.
- Preservatives.
- Antioxidants and acidity regulators.
- Thickeners, stabilizers and emulsifiers.
- pH regulators and non-binding agents.
- Seasonings.
- antibiotics.
- Mixed substances.
- Additional chemicals.
After touching one of the above-mentioned groups, you will see all the additives, including the risk indicator, that fall into the group. The application contains 500 "Es" with a precise description. In addition, the advantage is that E-ADD'S does not need an Internet connection, so if you see a food, the composition of which you will not completely guess. You can use this application to find out more accurate information. Other pluses are a really simple look and feel, where you can't make a wrong move or delete something
For E-ADD'S, however, I really miss a Czech localization, which would certainly be appropriate. Thus, when displaying the description for individual additives, you are flooded with technical terms in English, which is a rather big disadvantage. For example, the Czech localization will soon be added by the application developer Alexander Troitsky, then E-ADD'S would be much more usable. However, you can already use it playfully for an approximate search of what you eat, but you probably won't understand some expressions.
Thanks for the mention. Useful thing. The application is currently (October 2, 2010. 16.29) offered for a limited time for FREE!
Well see.. another must-have app ;)) thanks
And if someone would like something similar in the road, they can use our E Numbers Calc. Additive names and types are fully localized to the road, detailed descriptions are not. However, the Czech name is almost a necessity for searching in the store, because more and more manufacturers stop using E names, but use classic names (probably so that customers think that there is no ec in the food).
Current price $1.99. Alexander took some inspiration from us in terms of layout and basic functions :-), which of course is not a problem, we will probably take some good ideas from her.
If you have US iTunes, our application is temporarily available on US iTunes under the name E Food Check and free of charge (sponsored by iAd advertising - which will not be displayed in the Czech Republic anyway). It's kind of our temporary experiment with iAds, you can take advantage of it.

Jindra Sarson: No matter how I searched, I couldn't find the application in the CZ AppStore. I don't have access to the US AppStore. Two dollars can survive when there is nothing to spend it on :-o.

So I figured it out, thanks Google. :-O
