Popular web storage Dropbox has received a major update. Version number 3.0 completely changes the design along the lines of iOS 7 and also adds some interesting features. The biggest innovation is support for AirDrop technology, i.e. simple data sharing between local devices.
Dropbox is getting rid of the old plastic design and has been seduced by the light shades of iOS 7. This was already reflected in the icon itself, which has changed colors and now contains a light blue logo on a white background. In the new application, the content itself received more space; instead of various bars, a few buttons in a simple top panel are now enough.
In addition to design changes, Dropbox 3.0 also comes with several new features in terms of functionality. The biggest one is support for AirDrop technology. This allows iOS 7 users to send data between multiple local devices. The new Dropbox thus allows you to send not only photos, but also other files and public URL links to them.
The built-in viewer for photos, videos and PDF files has also been improved. Here is the complete list of changes by manufacturer:
- beautiful new design for iOS 7
- simplified experience on iPad: just tap and your files and photos will be displayed in full screen
- improved sharing and exporting make it easy to send files to your favorite apps
- AirDrop support allows you to send links and files in a flash
- the ability to easily save videos to your library
- faster startup, photo uploading and video playback
- we have overcome most of the causes of application crashes
- we fixed a bug that caused HTML to render as text
- a bunch of PDF viewer improvements
The update is now available for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad and can be downloaded for free in the App Store.

Beautiful design? There were background and standard iOS elements, or how developers are starting to eliminate the ecosystem - laziness. Anyone missing iOS 6?
I definitely do. Both functionality and appearance. I like to imitate ordinary things that surround us. I like the look of wood or leather, it makes me happy when the notebook looks like a real notebook. The new design is terrible.
I can't say that it would be downright ugly for me, I really dislike the disgusting uniformity of all applications (I have absolutely no idea if I'm in Podcasts, iTunes U or iBooks) + all the drive's interesting applications come with boring, white applications with standard elements, without even thinking about whether they would lose some identity or intuitiveness.
It's a shame, instead of people like Jobs and Forstall, who always advised usability over design, people got there who are only interested in design and nothing else. And a confusing OS update is the result. Hopefully they will do something about it, I hear from people around me everywhere (especially non-geeks) that they suddenly stopped orienting themselves in iOS. Perhaps it was just a fluke and Apple will return something of the reason why millions of people switched to iOS - ease of use.
man, your last sentence could be a prayer. But I'm afraid nothing like that will happen. Apple has simply lost its long-standing DNA and the people at the helm today unfortunately do not see it. So they won't even have enough self-reflection to go back to what made Apple Apple just recently.
The new design goes in the wrong direction just like on the Mac. Apple has exchanged user-friendliness for visual simplicity - thanks to this, the new systems are harder to control than the old ones. For iOS, the turning point now came with iOS 7. On the Mac, it came with MacOS 10.7.
Mac OS 10.6 Snow Leopard and iOS 6 were made with a different philosophy – and they were a joy to use. Unfortunately, this no longer applies to today's systems.
I completely agree, with iOS 7 the simplicity has definitely decreased, but I don't feel it with Mavericks. I think they are going in the right direction there.
The difference between 10.9 (i.e. Maverick) and 10.8 is not that big and it is a shift for the better, that's clear. But it is different, if you compare 10.9 (Mavericks) with 10.6 (Snow Leopard), there is a class difference - in favor of Leopard. That is, if User friendly sticks.
I saw Snow Leopard a while ago - and you see everything there intuitively, on later systems you have to focus on where to click. And there are more operations that require the mouse (or finger) to be clicked more times than before on new systems. New users may not think so, but those who have been with Apple for a long time already have a chance to recognize this difference. And it's not a change for the better.
I absolutely agree and I'm afraid of what will happen to Win over the years, I don't want it
I feel that, only if they remove lines in notes or a new white flat calendar, these applications are unusable. I'll give you an application that will bring it back to flood design for 29,99. now i hate dropbox, the iphoto icon looks like it was designed by a carousel
Yes it will take time before developers come up with better ideas. The best apps on iOS 6 didn't copy the standard look of Apple apps either.
I don't know, but OmniFocus 2 and Tweetbot have always been top apps for me. And now both converge to the same point, which was definitely not possible in iOS 6.
I'm sorry for how divided and interesting ideas are, everyone just copies the white (boring) style of the Apple application or coughs for originality, especially obey the advice.
Hopefully, applications for iOS 7 will finally be released that won't look like they're out of date. If anyone knows of one, please let me know, I'd be happy to take a look.
What about Teevee 2? Moneybook, Fantastical.
You also look nice, I haven't seen Moneybook before, so I can't judge. But apart from the color (which makes me sick) it's nice.
Fantastical 2, Reeder 2, Aviary, Instagram also still looks its own just with a light facelift. Likewise, Day One or the already mentioned Moneybook kept their face. This is like in iOS 2 or iOS 3. Back then, the best apps and UI innovations were just starting to be born. Give the developers time, they will show themselves.
I hope you're right, I'd love to.
Yeah, Fantastical, Reeder, etc. at least kept their looks, they're nice. Thanks, I was looking for some that didn't "betray" in favor of a white background with blue buttons and thin fonts.
Don't be mad at me, but you specifically give me the impression that even if Apple released a new iPhone in the shape of shit (sorry), you'd be blown away by it, especially that it has a bitten apple on the back. I also like Apple, but also common sense. iOS7 is bad (I believe that the functional side will improve to perfection, in time), but the appearance will still be bad, which of course we will get used to in time, we will have to ;)
in offense
Nice nickname. Anyway, don't you understand that I criticized (not praised) iOS 7 for the boring white direction it set? :-D Why don't I have common sense? wtf?
So I didn't understand you in your positive comments, I'm sorry ;)
So you stalk me here, read all my comments, then prepare a response in advance and post it under my post, which Apple criticizes anyway?
:D
I had no idea I had such fans.
It is not clear your stupid comments + that NICK, praising iOS7 to the highest degree. And in the post that forced me to react, unfortunately, it is not possible to clearly tell whether you are criticizing or praising iOS7 (after all your praises), it is not incomprehensible that something is wrong with you he didn't like it. You wouldn't want me as a fan ;)
"Isn't it clear your stupid comments + that NICK praising iOS7 to the highest degree." - criticism of uniform applications for iOS 7 is praising iOS 7 to the highest degree? What? :D
"And in the post that forced me to react, unfortunately, it is not possible to clearly tell whether you are criticizing or praising iOS7" - but the three people who responded to my post in a matter-of-fact way understood it perfectly. But you don't, it happens. There's no reason to get upset right away ;-)
"after all your praises" - I wrote the first post in this discussion and it criticized Apple. I don't know where the eulogy is. Maybe you should google the term first ;-)
Anyway, I'm flattered that I have stalkers here who copy my nickname. Just read what I'm writing first before you respond, so you don't make such a mess again ;-)
Stalk stalk stalk… :-)
A bit strong words, isn't it? Anyone who reads the posts and in all likelihood enjoys them, doesn't mean they follow you ;)
:D
aah, intelligent.
He just adapted to most, donkey :D
