Amaya Toman Doug Field left the ranks of Apple employees in 2013 when he went to work for Tesla. Now he is returning to the Cupertino company. According to the server Daring Fireball should be here working alongside Bob Mansfield on the Titan project. Apple confirmed the return of Doug Field, but did not comment on whether he would really work on the named project. However, the probability of this variant is quite high.
Tesla hired Field in 2013 for his leadership and technical talent to develop superior products. He was in charge of the development and production of the Model 3, but Elon Musk took over responsibility for this section this year. Tesla then officially announced that Doug Field's return was not planned anytime soon - the reason being that he had taken some time off to rest and recover to spend with his family. Field has now made a 180-degree turn with his return to the apple company, but this time it will be a different role. During his early career at Apple, he worked as vice president of hardware, but this time he is expected to join Bob Mansfield and participate in Project Titan.

Mansfield came out of retirement to join Apple in 2016 when he became the head of the Project Titan team. He originally retired between 2014 and 2015, before his retirement he was involved in the creation of the Apple Watch. It will not be the first time that Bob Mansfield and Doug Field have collaborated. The two have worked together in the past on various hardware products from Mac to iPhone.
The Titan project is still very confusing from the point of view of the uninitiated public. About five thousand employees divided into many teams took part in it. Everything was subject to strict secrecy and often neither team had any idea what the others were working on. Reports appeared, talking about the alleged definitive end of the project, but only a select few at Apple know the real state of affairs.
