Several readers ask me if I happen to have no information on when the iPad will be available in the Czech Republic. Unfortunately, we still don't know a specific date. But we know one thing for sure, the iPad won't go on sale in the Czech Republic even in July.
Apple has announced more countries where the iPad will soon be sold. Not only did he announce the first 9 countries where sales start on May 29, but Apple has already mentioned a second wave that covers other countries. In those, sales should start in July. Unfortunately, the Czech Republic is not even among these countries.
It seems more and more likely that the iPad will appear in the Czech Republic only with the arrival of iPhone OS 4 for iPad, which should be sometime in the fall. In the current iPhone OS 3.2, the Apple iPad does not support Czech. I believe that the release of the new iPhone OS 4 for the iPad and the announcement of the start of sales in the Czech Republic could be at the event in September when the new iPods will be announced. In short, the demand for iPads is still European and Apple can't even supply the US market.
We also already know the prices for European countries. iPad 16GB Wi-Fi should cost €499, 32GB €599 and 64GB will be €699. You will pay €3 more for the 100G model. These should be the official prices, although in Spain, for example, the iPad will be €20 cheaper.
The price is not the worst, I bought it in the USA, it has been at home since Wednesday ;-) great thing, whoever is thinking about it will be delighted, I definitely recommend buying it. And what did it cost me, $600 (32GB version), American tax ($24), in the Czech Republic it cost me 12 in the bank (maybe some small money for that, it was at a time when the exchange rate was quite nice, at today's 000 per dollar and the like, it will be weaker - now I'm even looking at 20.50 on the interbank market, you can't count on an exchange rate for an ordinary mortal lower than 20.4 Kc) (paid with a Czech credit card in the Apple store without the slightest problem, sent to an American forwarding address). Then 21 Kc and forwarded to CR, plus post office to CR 250 Kc (maybe plus or minus some crown). They robbed me of 960 CZK at the customs office (VAT, maybe also customs duty, I haven't understood that yet, I will ask, but it will probably be fine, the communists got away with it for free). And that's all, a total of 2800 equals.. It probably won't go far without signs :-( the ideal would be to import from someone who works there, the three thousand will be saved, but he will probably want something too.. Price me It didn't really matter, but the 16 for the blue-orange freebies will of course cost me. So good luck to everyone :-) There are deadlines, I ordered and paid on April 000, it took exactly 3 days for Apple to send it, then it took three days (through the weekend ), forwarded immediately, to CR again in about 16 days, it was on sale over the weekend, they sold it very quickly, and on Tuesday 7. I had it at home. There will be no delay anywhere, so you can't do it faster ;-) unless you happen to know that the transport to the USA will not be on the weekend, because there it was delayed by a day or two, and then the customs, it also took over the weekend... so minus 3 days in the ideal case.
John: who did you order it through? Is it possible to pay directly at the Apple US store with a Czech (Slovak) credit card and have it delivered to the US address? I am thinking about purchasing via http://www.cz-ebay.cz
Vrsko: As I wrote, a normal debit card (mBank), no problem, but only send to a US address (I had the lowest US tax from the services I quickly flew through, Denver, shopping-usa.cz).
Will the European prices listed include the applicable VAT for that country?
Tommm: it should be like that, although the prices are not official in all countries.. for example, it is already clear that in Germany it will be +€15 (tax for computers)..
I am deciding whether to buy in the US or the EU. I will deduct the VAT in both cases. So I am considering what is more advantageous - above all, the 2-year European warranty seems advantageous to me (or am I mistaken and it is only here?). I have a person in the US who will send it to me. It can be ordered under the Czech name of the company but with a delivery address somewhere in the USA. I'm mainly asking about the receipt for the account. Thank you
Tommm: not everywhere there is a 2 year warranty, for example in the UK it is only one year as far as I know... I can't give you any advice, you won't have an ICO there and so on, but someone else will probably give you advice on that..
Hello,
if I buy it in the USA, will a Czech SIM card be used (maybe there is some kind of mini SIM card or something)? Or is it also a block for operators?
thanks, just one
Only micro SIM, all operators in the Czech Republic offer them. The iPad is not locked to an operator.
