It's been a week since Apple held its much-anticipated WWDC21 developer conference. We got the basics, in the form of new operating systems. But more was expected. Much more. Whether the "planned" news was predicted by the most successful leaker or just the general public, it didn't work out this time. But maybe we can look forward to it in the future. And for what?

MacBook Pros

It's usually somewhat risky to venture into predictions that Apple will introduce hardware at WWDC. This year it looked promising, but in the end it didn't work out. Everything was started by the leaker Jon Prosser, who after all is one of the more successful ones, so there was absolutely no reason not to trust him. According to the website AppleTrack it has a 73,6% success rate in its claims.

So when will we see the new MacBook Pros? Bloomberg states that already in the summer. The more moderate estimates speak more about autumn.

Professional application for iPadOS 15

After Apple released the iPad Pro with the M1 chip, many users expected that the floodgates would finally open for the full potential of this Apple tablet. It did not happen. With the new software presented during WWDC21, the company did not announce any professional content. All we've seen is an improvement to the multitasking interface.

From a professional point of view, however, we also got the announcement that later this year Apple will bring Swift Playgrounds, which will allow users to program apps and games directly on the iPad. It will also be possible to send titles directly from the iPad to Apple for approval.

iPad Pro with M1 chip and macOS

Although Apple assures that it does not intend to unify the iPad and Mac in any way, there are still those who do not want to believe it. A relatively large group of users hoped that at least iPad Pros with the same chip that beats in Apple's new computers would receive an "adult" operating system in the form of macOS. It didn't happen and it shouldn't happen in the future.

iOS 15 with redesigned icons

After Apple introduced new icons in macOS Big Sur, it might have been obvious that the company would do the same for iOS, namely iOS 15. Apple has been using the current look of iPhone icons since iOS 7, and users therefore assumed that now its time for iOS to get a new face. The neo-skeuomorphic design from macOS Big Sur will thus continue to be exclusive to macOS only.¨

Support for lossless music

In May, Apple said that the HomePod and HomePod mini would get support for lossless music in Apple Music with their future update. It was also expected that Apple will introduce the possibility of listening to lossless content with its AirPods. It could have been, for example, the introduction of a codec, or anything else, but neither happened, and Apple actually didn't say much about its novelty in listening to the highest quality music.

home OS

It seemed like an obvious thing to do. This was even during the conference itself, where Apple did not mention tvOS in a single word. Whether it was supposed to be a system for HomePods or a renaming of tvOS, neither has happened, so the question is whether this system is intended for future products, or if there will be a renaming at any time later.
