The burly, Italian plumber and savior of Princess Peach has finally seen his glory on the mobile platform. Nintendo released a long-awaited game to the world Super Mario Run, which appeared preferentially on iPhones and iPads. After the first few minutes of the game, I was a little disappointed, but an hour was enough and I found it hard to tear myself away from my iPhone.

The fact that I wasn't enchanted by the game right away was caused by the slightly different controls than we were used to with Mario, and also by the fact that I was playing for free. Super Mario Run it offers only one world with three levels and five tickets to multiplayer immediately after download. Only when the entire game is unlocked, which costs 10 euros (270 crowns) once, does he get it Super Mario Run meaning.

Immediately after payment, you will receive several bonuses and all six worlds, each with four levels, will be unlocked. Super Mario Run in fact, it wasn't even made for free to play, just with the developers decided, that they will give players the opportunity to first touch the mobile world of Mario.

The game is not easy at all

Before the actual launch, many people who experienced and played the original Mario on the Nintendo console claimed that the game would be very simple, as Mario would run on his own and even climb or jump over minor obstacles. However, I don't think it reduced the difficulty much. It will take an experienced player one to two hours to complete all the levels, but it doesn't end there. You will definitely not collect all the coins, kill all the enemies and discover hidden bonuses and locations on the first try.

You can control the friendly Italian with one hand and one finger. There are no action buttons in the game and you only need to tap your finger to jump and hold it longer for a bigger jump. In each round, a different game environment awaits you, so you will walk through a haunted house, underground, pirate ship or sky clouds. At the end of each world is a castle or a pirate ship that hides a boss that needs to be defeated. It's also important to mention that you only have three lives each round.

But practically, you don't have a chance to pass the same lap twice in a row. Various traps and tricks await you on the route, which help or harm Mario and his friends in different ways. In addition to the fact that you have to fight your way from the start to the familiar flag at the end, you also have to collect five coins of the same color in each level. Once you manage to collect five pink coins, purple and then dark green will appear. And yes, you guessed right - each set of coins is harder to reach and more hidden.

But if you manage to collect all five coins in one run, you will get two tickets to multiplayer and bonus points. Of course, you also get them for collecting coins that are scattered everywhere and for destroying enemies. In addition, if you destroy a certain number of toads, for example, you get more points. Enemies are varied - some you destroy by running over them, others you have to jump on or run over while going down the backside.

Since the only command you can give Mario is to jump, his timing is very important. You will jump on walls, where you always jump from one wall to the opposite one, and you can also break bricks with a jump, behind which various bonuses are hidden. When you jump on the arrows lying on the ground, you will be catapulted either a little backwards or faster forwards depending on their direction. When you touch the arrows in the air again, bonus coins will appear.

Next to the arrows, you can also come across a brick with a pause, which will stop you (even the time you otherwise have to run to the flag) and give you time to think about how to continue - usually you can decide between two routes or plan a more complex combination jumps. Often, you will be saved by bubbles when completing tasks, which you can use to move on the way back, for example, if you forgot to pick up a coin. And also the bubbles will save you if you fall into the abyss. You start each round with two and you can find more under the bricks. Finally, you will also meet magic mushrooms that will make Maria bigger, and stars that will help you collect all the coins around.

Jumps and various creations

Super Mario Run however, it is not only about the story in the single-player Tour. Although this is a key point, it is complemented by attractive multiplayer, in which you compete against real players from all over the world. However, it is not a real-time competition and not even on the same track. Both you and your opponent's ghost have their own set of coins and bonuses on the track, which you cannot take from each other. This is only possible at the bonus flag in the middle of the track.

In Rally, as the multiplayer is called, however, the goal is not to finish first, but rather to perform as many effective jumps and combinations as possible. Of course, it is also important to collect as many coins as possible and, if possible, not to die even once. Once your time limit is up, the scores will be compared and a winner will be determined. He will get valuable mushrooms of different colors, which are important for the restoration of the kingdom.

This brings us to the third game mode. The two game modes are complemented by one building mode, in which you build a kingdom for the collected money and won mushrooms. You buy buildings, decorations and try to put together what was demolished. The key to growing a kingdom quickly is to win mushrooms of all five colors in the Rally, with each player always competing for a different combination of colors.

You can also compare yourself with friends in the Tour, where you can always see who has the highest score in a given level. Over time, you don't have to run crazy with just Mario. He can be exchanged for, for example, loyal friend Luigi, Princess Peach or a toad - each character has its own strengths and weaknesses.

A decent amount of fun

I think Nintendo bet on the right card and Mario will quickly become a phenomenon, thanks to a massive advertising campaign and promotion from Apple. I'm glad that the one-time purchase unlocked everything and I'm sure that I won't have to spend a single penny for anything again, which is not the rule in similar platformers. On the other hand, surely no one would be angry when Nintendo prepared the entire Tour a little longer. After all, only 24 available levels can get boring.

Perhaps the only major flaw in the beauty is the necessary Internet connection, which can drop due to the influence of the signal when traveling by public transport. It can easily happen that you won't start the game at all.

If you want to play Mario on multiple devices without losing gameplay, you need to create a Nintendo Account. But the joke is that you can't play the game on two devices at the same time. Once you log in elsewhere, you will be automatically logged out. However, gameplay is synchronized. It can be seen that Nintendo does not want to support any form of piracy. With a Nintendo account, you'll also get a variety of bonuses, coins, and other upgrades for your kingdom.

You won't get exactly the same Mario on iPhone as you used to play on Nintendo consoles, if only because mobile Super Mario Run it's designed for one-finger control, but the Italian plumber won't let his fans down even on iPhones and iPads.
