A billion hard drives sold (1979)

On April 22, 2008, Seagate announced that it had sold a record one billion hard drives since its founding in 1979. It thus became the first manufacturer of this type of hardware to achieve such an important milestone. The capacity of all hard drives sold on that date was roughly 79 million TB.

The 486SX processor arrives (1991)

April 22, 1991 was the day Intel officially released its 486SX processor. Intel 486 series processors, also known as 80486 or i486, are the successors of the 32-bit x86 microprocessor Intel 80386. The first model of this series was introduced in 1989. The Intel 486SX processor was available in 16 MHz and 20 MHz variants.

The Mosaic Web Browser Comes (1993)

On April 21, 1993, the Mosaic web browser emerged from the workshop of the National Center for Supercomputing Applications. It was a graphical browser that was the first to be ported from Unix to operating systems from Apple and Microsoft. Mosaic was completely free for all platforms. Development of the browser began in early 1992, and development and support ended in early January 1997.
