Founding of the General Electric Company (1892)

On April 15, 1892, the General Electric Company (GE) was founded. The company was actually formed by the merger of the former Edison General Electric, founded in 1890 by Thomas A. Edison, and the Thomson-Houston Electric Company. In 2010, General Electric Company was ranked by Forbes magazine as the second largest company in the world. Today, GE is a multinational conglomerate, operating in the field of air transport, healthcare, energy, digital industry or even venture capital.

First San Francisco Computing Conference (1977)

April 15, 1977 was, among other things, the day of the first West Coast Computer Faire. The three-day event was held in San Francisco, California and was attended by a respectable 12 people. At this conference, for example, the Apple II computer with 750KB of memory, the BASIC programming language, a built-in keyboard, eight expansion slots and color graphics was publicly presented for the first time. Many experts today consider the West Coast Computer Faire to be one of the fundamental building blocks of the early days of the personal computer industry.

Apollo Computer Introduces Its New Products (1982)

On April 15, 1982, Apollo Computer introduced its DN400 and DN420 workstations. The Apollo Computer company was founded in 1980 and in the eighties of the last century was engaged in the development and production of workstations. It mainly concerned the production of own hardware and software. The company was bought by Hewlett-Packard in 1989, the Apollo brand was briefly resurrected in 2014 as part of HP's high-end computer portfolio.
