Jiří Filip Yesterday, the largest drone manufacturer presented its latest product - the Air 2S. As usual with DJI, this new product is once again loaded with a lot of new smart features and lacks the family name of its predecessors in the Mavic series.

The size of the sensor is a really important parameter. A larger sensor sees more is not just a metaphor, because the size of the sensor directly corresponds to the number of pixels, or their size. DJI Air 2S it offers a 1-inch sensor that matches the size of the sensor of professional drones such as the Mavica 2 Pro, and it doesn't even have to be shy of smaller cameras. With the increase of the sensor comes 2 options of what to do with the pixels - we can increase their number, thanks to which we will get a higher resolution, therefore we will be able to zoom and crop photos and videos without losing quality, or we can increase their size. By increasing the pixels, we achieve a much better image quality, especially in low light conditions, or even in the dark. Because he has DJI Air 2S the sensor is twice as big as its older brother Air 2, but at the same time it has a resolution of 12 MP instead of the original 20 MP, this means that the Air 2S has bigger pixels, but at the same time it has more pixels, so we can zoom in on photos and they will look better in the dark better, and that's really something.

You are certainly familiar with Full HD or even 4K, as these are standard video resolutions that are already quite large and high-quality. The biggest benefit of high definition, especially with drones, is the ability to zoom in on video in post-production without worrying about grainy or blurry video. For these purposes, 4K is perfect, but we can still go further. DJI introduces 5,4K video with the drone, thanks to which you will be able to capture every single detail. It wouldn't be DJI if the only improvement was a higher resolution, so together with 5,4K it represents an 8x zoom, thanks to which you really won't miss anything.
To make matters worse, the Air 2S even handles 10-bit D-Log videos. What does it mean? Such videos have a huge amount of colors that they can display. In this case, the huge amount means exactly 1 billion colors, all in D-Log, thanks to which you will be able to adjust the colors exactly according to your imagination. That all sounds great, but that kind of resolution with so many colors means a lot of data to go through, the average bitrate certainly wouldn't be enough and the videos would chop. The Air 2S takes this into account and therefore offers a bitrate of 150 Mbps, which is enough for a huge pile of data.
However, video is not everything
If you're not that interested in video and prefer beautiful photos from a bird's eye view, don't worry, we have something for you too. With the new and larger sensor comes big improvements for photographers. Compared to the Air 2, this camera manages to shoot at 20 MP, which is almost double what the Air 2 could do. Thanks to the larger sensor and f/2.8 aperture, you can create photos with beautiful depth of field. There is one problem with the f/2.8 aperture - such an aperture lets a lot of light onto the sensor, which, due to its size, captures even more of it than smaller sensors. However, the Combo set offers an easy solution to this problem in the form of a set of ND filters. A larger sensor also means a higher dynamic range, which is especially indispensable for landscape photos.
Anyone can control it
Thanks to improved sensors and new technologies, the Air 2S is even more controllable than its predecessors. Anti-collision sensors in four directions can guide the drone flawlessly through forests or houses. With improved technologies such as APAS 4.0, i.e. pilot assistance system or perhaps thanks to the ActiveTrack 4.0 function, it is no problem for anyone to perform complex maneuvers. The improved functions of POI 3.0 and Spotlight 2.0, which collectively form the basis of a smart drone, must not be missing. Last but not least, it is necessary to mention the new OcuSync 3.0 function, which offers a transmission range of up to 12 km, and is also more resistant to interference and outages. ADS-B, or AirSense, works great together with O3, which ensures even better safety in flight areas.
DJI Air 2S stands at the top of the mid-range drones, with a 1-inch CMOS sensor and 5,4K video, it ranks in the category of professional machines, but its price is much more pleasant.
