This fall sees the launch of two long-awaited streaming services that have the potential to enter and shake up the digital content market. In one case, it will be Apple TV+, a service about which we still know relatively little (see the March keynote). In the second case, it will be the Disney+ service, about which we now know much more and, as it seems, the Disney company has a very good foothold.

Over the past weekend, quite a lot of new information appeared on the web about how the new Disney+ service will look and, above all, work. All content will be available through a dedicated application that looks very similar to that of Netflix or Apple. There is not much to think about in this regard. The application will be available on most platforms, starting with the classic web interface, through mobile phones, tablets, consoles and even televisions. But more important than the form is the content, and in this respect Disney really has a lot to offer.

On the published screenshot from the application, we can see what can be roughly expected from the Disney+ library. Logically, all the Disney animations that the company has worked on in recent decades will appear in it. In addition to them (and there really are a lot of them), all other world-famous films and series that belong to Disney will be available here. We can look forward to all Marvel productions, everything from Lucasfilms, Pixar or 20th Century Fox. Both fans of Mickey Mouse and admirers of Empire or natural history works from National Geographic will find something to their liking. This is indeed an impressive range of works.

In addition to the above content, Disney plans to produce brand new films and series that will be exclusive to this platform. These will be projects belonging to the current offer of attractive series or film sagas. Disney+ subscribers should be able to see a new series from the world of Avengers, as well as some films that complement the world of Star Wars and much more. In this case, Disney's scope is very wide.

The application will support all the modern conveniences that we are used to from current platforms, i.e. the ability to establish playback, recommendations, the ability to download images offline, support for 4K HDR images, user profiles and preferences and much more, including a "dark mode" mode of the user interface . In the end, the biggest unknown for the Czech customer will be what the local version of the library will look like. This will largely affect the success or failure of the service in the Czech Republic.

Disney plans to launch its streaming service on November 12. The price of a monthly subscription should be 7 dollars, i.e. roughly 160 crowns. This is a significantly lower amount compared to competing platforms, and the annual subscription for $70 (1) is even more advantageous - given the amount of content that Disney has available. The Disney+ platform will also logically appear on devices from Apple, be it iOS, macOS or tvOS. The somewhat spicy part is that Disney is chaired by a person who is also a member of Apple's board of directors. According to him, however, the companies do not (yet) significantly compete with each other. However, according to foreign reactions, it seems that Disney's offer is far more welcoming to many potential customers than what Apple will be able to do. How do you view the growing number of streaming services? Are you more attracted to Disney+ or Apple TV+? Or are you already up to your neck with an increasing number of different distribution channels with exclusive pictures and do you get movies/series in another way?
