A detailed look at the audio of the new MacBook Pro (2021)

This week, Apple introduced a new generation of professional MacBook Pros, which have moved forward in an incredible way. The first change is immediately visible in the design and the return of important ports, which include HDMI, an SD card reader and MagSafe 3 for power. But the main thing is performance. The Cupertino giant introduced a pair of new chips labeled M1 Pro and M1 Max, which make the new Macs truly worthy of the "Pro" designation. However, it doesn't end there. By all accounts, this pair of Apple laptops offers, according to Apple, the best audio system in notebooks ever with Spatial Audio support.

Moving forward in sound

If we look at it specifically, the new 14″ and 16″ MacBook Pros offer six speakers. Two of them are the so-called tweeters, or tweeters, to ensure a clearer soundscape, while they continue to be supplemented by six woofers, bass speakers, which are said to offer 80% more bass than in the case of previous generations, of course also in higher quality. The microphones have also been pleasantly improved. In this direction, the laptops rely on a trio of studio microphones, which are supposed to offer noticeably better quality with a reduction in ambient noise. Additionally, as we mentioned above, MacBook Pro (2021) should support Spatial Audio. Therefore, if the user plays Apple Music on the device, specifically songs in Dolby Atmos, or movies with Dolby Atmos, he should have significantly better sound quality.

What is the real audio quality?

Whether the quality of the audio system of the new MacBook Pros is really as presented by Apple itself is understandably unclear for the time being. For more detailed information, we will have to wait a little while longer before the first lucky ones, who will receive the laptops immediately after the start of sales, apply for a say. Among other things, it dates to Tuesday, October 26. In any case, one thing is already clear – the Cupertino giant managed to push his "Pročka" to heights they had never been before. Of course, the fundamental change is in the new Apple Silicon chips, so it is clear that we can look forward to really interesting news in the future.
