Apple has launched a new program to define the rules for independent designers to design their own wristbands for the Apple Watch. From the official website designers can now download special guides and schematics to create their own wristbands thanks to a section called "Made for Apple Watch". These must meet the prescribed criteria set by Apple and must also be made of permitted materials.

Of course, accessory manufacturers have already rushed in with a whole range of non-original wristbands for Apple's latest product. Only according to newly defined guidelines and regulations will it be possible to produce bracelets with appropriate certification. Apple, for example, requires their production to merge with the company's established standard of environmental friendliness.

But the requirements also apply to the construction, and wristbands from independent designers must be designed to fit perfectly on the wrist and thus allow accurate measurement of the user's heart rate. It is forbidden to integrate a magnetic charging device.

So far, the "Made for Apple Watch" program only applies to watch bands. But as the name of the program suggests, in time we could expect its further expansion to, for example, various chargers, charging stands and other peripherals. For iPhone, iPod and iPad, independent manufacturers have been able to produce certified accessories for several years. A similar program that exists under the name MFi (Made for iPhone/iPod/iPad) allows them to do this.
