Here are ten tips to optimize (increase) the battery life of your iPhone.

Adjust the display brightness
It is best if the brightness setting indicator moves somewhere before half way. Automatic regulation then automatically changes the brightness of the display according to the lighting so that the display is darker in dark areas, which is perfectly sufficient, while it is nicely readable in the sun. You certainly do not need 100% luminosity in the dark, and your eyes may appreciate a lower brightness. Brightness intensity is set in Settings > Brightness (Settings > Brightness).

Turn off 3G
If you have 3G turned on, it not only gives you faster data transfer with a mobile Internet connection, but also the possibility to maximize data usage and still be available for calls. But 3G has a negative effect on battery life. So if you're not using 3G, be sure to turn it off. If you use it, turn it on only when you really need high speed (eg watching streaming videos, listening to the radio, etc.). Data transmissions are of course available even if you are on a 2G network (GPRS or EDGE), but you will not be available to make a call at peak traffic. The 3G setting is in Settings > General > Network > Enable 3G (Settings > General > Network > Turn on 3G).

Turn off bluetooth
Turn off bluetooth whenever you are not using a headset or other device to which you need bluetooth connectivity. This will significantly increase battery life. Bluetooth is set in Settings > General > Bluetooth (Settings > General > Bluetooth).

Turn off Wi-Fi
When Wi-Fi is turned on, after certain intervals it tries to connect to preferred networks or searches for new networks and then offers you a connection to an unknown network. This also happens whenever the phone is in standby mode for a long time and you unlock it (just show the lockscreen). I recommend turning on Wi-Fi only when you use it (e.g. only in the coverage of private Wi-Fi that you regularly connect to - home network, office, etc.). Wi-Fi is set in Settings > Wi-Fi (Settings > Wi-Fi).

Reduce the frequency of getting Emails
iPhone allows you to periodically retrieve Emails from your accounts at certain intervals. The longer you set the delay, the better it will do to your battery. Of course, it's ideal to retrieve emails manually in the Email application when you remember, which certainly won't be every hour (hourly retrieval is the longest adjustable delay). In addition to the iPhone always connecting to the server, the Email app is still running in the background and is practically impossible to get rid of unless you're playing a very demanding 3D game. There is also so-called Push (not to be confused with Push notifications) - new data is pushed by the server with a short delay after receiving it - I definitely recommend turning it off. These functions can be set in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data (Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Data Delivery).

Turn off push notifications
Push notification is a new technology that came with FW 3.0. It allows third-party applications (i.e. from the AppStore) to obtain information from the server and pass it on to you even when you are not in the application. This is used, for example, in new applications for communication (e.g. via ICQ), when you are still online, even if you have the application turned off, and new ICQ messages arrive to you in a similar way as a new SMS message. However, this feature has an extreme impact on your battery life, especially if you don't have an active mobile internet connection (i.e. through an operator, not Wi-Fi). You can turn off the function in Settings > Notifications (Settings > Notifications; this item is only accessible if you have FW 3.0 and any application using Push notifications has already been launched).

Turn off the phone module
In areas where you don't have a signal (e.g. metro), or it's very weak and you don't need it, turn off the phone module. Just like in the evening when you go to sleep and you don't have to be on your phone. Ideally, turn off the phone completely in the evening, but I think few people do that today. Switching off the telephone module is therefore sufficient. Turn off the phone module by turning on airplane mode. You do this in Settings > Airplain Mode (Settings > Airplane mode).

Turn off location services
Location services are used by applications that want to get your location (eg Google Maps or navigation). If you do not need these services, turn them off in Settings > General > Location Services (Settings > General > Location Services).

Set automatic locking
Auto-lock locks your phone after a set period of inactivity. You set this in Settings > General > Auto-Lock (Settings > General > Lock). Of course, it's ideal if you always lock your phone when you don't need to use it, or when you're just listening to music, for example.

Keep the operating system clean
Keeping your operating system clean not only helps your battery, but your operating system itself. While using the phone, you start some applications that are always running in the background (eg Safari, Mail, iPod) and to a lesser extent also drain the battery life. Therefore, it is advisable to regularly clean the RAM memory, e.g. with applications Memory Status from the AppStore, or restart the phone occasionally.
