CES 2020 starts today, but several companies have already announced news in advance with press releases. On the one hand, to prevent information leaks and on the other hand, so that participants know what to expect.

One special announcement before the trade fair started was made by Dell, currently one of the largest manufacturers of Windows PCs. The company that has dominated the US PC market for many quarters has announced a major update to its Dell Mobile Connect software.

Dell Mobile Connect Screen Mirroring

First released in 2018, the software allowed users to more deeply connect their mobile devices running Android 6.0, iOS 10 or later with Dell laptops and PCs. However, only models listed at least in January 2018 are fully supported. Previous devices are also supported, but the manufacturer does not guarantee the compatibility of all functions.

The application allows users to make phone calls, send SMS messages, access contacts or mirror the Android screen to the computer screen. In principle, it is similar to the Handoff function, which is already built into the macOS system.

The latest version of Dell Mobile Connect, scheduled for release in spring 2020, will bring even deeper support for iOS and iPadOS features. Users will now be able to access various applications including social media or transport applications such as Uber or Taxify. Drag-and-drop support for moving files from a laptop to an iPhone and iPad and mirroring their displays to a PC will also be new.

The app is available for Windows 10 computers for free in the Windows Store. It is also available for free in App Store.
