The first part of the zombie shooter Dead Trigger was a really big hit. Even so big that the developers over time the game due to piracy released for free. They already created the subsequent sequel with a clear goal in the form of a freemium model and also with a considerable amount of experience. But is killing zombies still fun?
The Brno studio Madfinger Games did not leave anything to chance this time either and created a really nice graphic rendering for the game. Detailed processing of weapons, terrifying undead with ominously glowing eyes and elaborate lighting effects. All this completes the atmosphere of the horror zombie apocalypse as well as the excellent sound. You will experience every shot, hit and explosion as if you were right there at the scene of the crime.
In addition to the audio-visual side, the controls also received improvements compared to the first part. Due to the fact that controlling movement, looking and shooting at the same time is rather tricky on the touch screen, the authors introduced a new feature called autofire. By default, you only need to take care of walking and aiming, the game will take care of shooting itself. It's a nice simplification of the controls without reducing the difficulty too much. The game also supports physical game controllers.
Since the original Dead Trigger was criticized for having little variety, the creators decided to make some changes. In the game, in addition to ordinary undead, we also find various minibosses who, in addition to abilities such as incomprehensible muttering and ridiculously slow movement, can, for example, explode effectively. There are only a few types of such improved zombies in the game, but they force a change of tactics at least for a moment.
Dead Trigger 2 it will now offer different types of missions, from a simple "shoot x zombies" to "pick this up" to "take a sniper and defend our base". The game tries to use short texts and speeches to connect these tasks into a coherent story, but unfortunately it doesn't quite work. It is understandable that the creators tried to make the game special, but talking about the unexpected arrival of the zombie apocalypse and its even more unexpected expansion is the essence of genre kitsch and stereotype.
Even this attempt at a story ultimately doesn't detract from the fact that the game becomes unsustainably repetitive after a while. The emphasis on long game time and upgrade options hurts her even more. For example, firearms and explosives can be improved, but usually you will need to find the appropriate maps in the game. These appear randomly and rarely in missions. In the tradition of freemium games, there is an option to pay for these upgrades to shorten the wait.
In the shooter genre, zombies can be used in the game with virtually no punishment. Killing them cannot offend anyone, because it does not carry such a moral burden as killing people or animals. However, the other side of the coin remains - when you don't have to deal with a moral compass, there is no need to invent a story, a plot, or even interesting and unique gameplay elements. Dead Trigger 2 is proof that fighting mindless monsters can very easily become mindless itself.

I liked playing as number one, but I'm already tired of number two :-) I'm already at level 32 :-) I shoot everything that moves for at least an hour a day :-))
I would totally disagree with the conclusion. Overall, compared to the first one, which I (unfortunately) bought and played for a few minutes, I was surprised that the second one has a story :-).
Supplementing the review with a statement from MADFINGER Games:
The game is online, because we want to build a lot of features around it. This release is version 0.2.1, so its only the beginning. Second reason is cheating, because a lot of players are trying to post fake results and everything is controlled now. Third reason is that we can tweak gameplay in a matter of seconds (which we are doing and game should be easier now, for example)
Timers are there, because of design (and yes, we are using it for monetization). If you want to finish the game in 30 minutes, you have to find another game. DT2 design is about playing for a very long period, releasing updates with new content, new goals and new story, etc..
So for example we are finishing bugfix update now.. In November, we will release bigger update with new gameplays, several melee weapons, friends, etc... In December we will move everybody to China and of course add new features.. We want to introduce Arenas again, slot machine, challenges, daily Rewards.. We are working on most requested feature since DT1 Its like releasing new game every two months..
And as monetization. You are paying your hard earned money only if you want to skip something. Every weapon, gadget, mission, character, sound or animation is free in the game.. And we are not forcing you to skip something or buy a blueprint sooner. There is no paywall or anything like this.
(note the version number.)
the author doesn't know what he's talking about, probably playing the sims
