After much outrage from many users, Google has officially commented on what happened to their official YouTube iOS app. With the last update, she decided to drain the battery of her iOS device to such an extent that it is basically unbearable. In this way, the company responds to the complaints of hundreds of users, which in recent weeks appear in almost all internet forums where similar problems are solved, whether it is reddit, community forums of foreign websites or other internet blogs.

The problem started appearing after the last update of the app and it is happening to users who are using on their device iOS version 11.1.1. Just fire up the YouTube app and you've got a problem. When it is closed and running in the background, the application does not register this change for some reason and still behaves as if it were active and the user was doing something with it. So even though it's in the background, it's still drawing a lot of power from the iPhone/iPad battery.

If you've been annoyed by battery life lately, take a look at the settings to see which app is "eating" the most. Just go to Settings, Battery and look at the summary of battery usage for 24 hours/7 days. If you're having a problem with the YouTube app, you'll know it immediately from the measured values (see images above). Apart from the problems of fast battery drain, the app also causes the device to overheat. Google is reportedly aware of the issue and is working on a fix. Therefore, if this problem happens to you, it is necessary to close the application "hard". Everything is fine in iOS 11.2 beta.
