The very first MacBook Air was introduced to the world by Steve Jobs in 2008. This thin laptop was first available in variants with 11″ and 13″ screens, which Apple gradually dropped and today only the version with a 13″ display is available. After all, this targeting makes a lot of sense. As we have already mentioned, the MacBook Air is from the beginning a thin and, above all, a light laptop, whose main benefit lies precisely in its compactness. But wouldn't it be worth it if the Cupertino giant also came up with a 15″ version?

Do we need a bigger MacBook Air?

The current range of Apple computers seems to be fairly balanced. Those who need a compact, undemanding device choose the Air, while those who specialize in professional work have a 14″/16″ MacBook Pro or a Mac Studio, or an all-in-one iMac with a 24″ screen is also available. Apple therefore covers almost every segment and it is only up to the customer which of the Macs he chooses. But what if I am among the undemanding users who can get by with the basic performance, but I need a slightly larger display? And in this case, I'm simply unlucky. So if someone is interested in a laptop with a larger screen, they are offered only the 16″ MacBook Pro, which is not exactly ideal for everyone. Its price starts at almost 73 thousand.

Otherwise, we are simply out of luck and a basic laptop with a larger display is simply missing from the menu. In theory, however, his arrival would not be so unexpected. According to current speculations and leaks, Apple is going to make the same changes to the iPhone product line. Specifically, this year's iPhone 14 is to come in two sizes and a total of 4 models, when 6,1" iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro and 6,7" iPhone 14 Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max will be available. After a few years, a basic model with a larger display will also arrive, without the customer having to pay extra for functions that they may not even use.

This model could theoretically be copied by Apple for the world of apple laptops. For example, the MacBook Air Max could be sold alongside the MacBook Air, which could just offer the aforementioned 15″ display. A similar device would therefore clearly make sense.

The main benefit of Air

On the other hand, the question arises as to whether we could call such a 15″ laptop an Air at all. We prefer to repeat that the essential advantage of MacBook Air is their compactness and light weight, which makes them very easy to carry and work with practically anywhere. With a larger model, however, it is necessary to take into account more weight, which will certainly not be so pleasant. In this direction, Apple could again copy the iPhone 14 and change the marking of the current entry-level Apple laptop.

In addition, there has been talk of a possible renaming for a long time. To this day, we could read a number of speculations that this piece will even get rid of the "Air" designation and will be on the shelves only with the "MacBook" designation. Although this is unsubstantiated information and we do not know if Apple will ever decide on a similar change, we have to admit that it makes a lot of sense. If the 13″ model were to be renamed “MacBook”, then nothing would prevent the arrival of a device called “MacBook Max”. And that could be the 15″ MacBook Air. Would you welcome such a laptop, or do you think it is useless?
