When for the umpteenth time I received a message from the operator informing me that I exceeded the weekly limit of downloaded data, I decided to look on the App Store for an application that would count my data. I was most interested in the DataMan application there.
DataMan convinced me with its simplicity and clarity. At the beginning, in the Settings tab, you enter the day of your settlement. Then a daily, weekly and monthly limit according to the tariff, and you end it by setting a notification when you exceed a certain limit of your limit.
In the Current tab, you can see a simple overview of all transferred data, both via WiFi and via the 3G network. I consider the Geotag of your connection to be a very interesting feature of this application. You can see where and how much data you have transferred on the map. The app was recently updated to version 2.0, and with iOS 4 support, it can now optionally let this feature run in the background. The added iPhone 3G support is also pleasing.
Cau Martin, according to the description, I would really like this app, but when I check AppStor, I can't find it there (I have a US account, and a SK account)
So when I connect to AS via iphone it finds it, but when via ipad it doesn't, what's the problem?
You probably don't have 4.2 on your iPad, do you? It's an app for 4.0 above that's why. In my case, with beta3 4.2, it works with a US or CZ account.
Please, how did you get 4.2 on the iPad? I tried it but it yelled at me that I haven't paid the 99USD/year fee so I can't register my ipad..
So support for ipad according to the app creator since November, I am confused by the first sentence "Ipad and iPhone applications"
I had this app and I wasn't satisfied... It felt like it for a while and then it didn't even move...
I would like to help with your issue. Have you updated to the new version 2.0? The new 2.0 can help fix your problem.
Please contact me at xvision.admin AT gmail.com with your issue if you need more help. Thank you.
I was also dissatisfied with this application, but only to the extent that it really drained the battery on my iPhone 3G...
Otherwise, I would recommend the similar application "iDataUsage", which I have been extremely satisfied with for a long time.
Battery life can be greatly reduced by turning off the Geotag function
Your battery issue has been fixed in DataMan version 2.0. Have you updated your DataMan app to 2.0?
The new DataMan app makes background geotag and location services optional. This will satisfy users who want to save every tiny bit of battery power. Plus, a new great way to view your usage everyday. Now you can see your daily usage pattern. The new DataMan adds support for iPhone 3G.
Thank you for liking DataMan. Really glad that you've found DataMan helpful in monitoring your data usage to stop overage charges. Please feel free to contact us if you have any feedback/questions. Our email is xvision.admin AT gmail.com
I just wanted to ask. Does the app have to be running in the background to work properly? Or I can turn it off.
I don't have experience with the iphone 3G, but it works on the four even if it's not running in the background.
I already have 4 too, but I was still interested.
Thanks for the reply.
It looks interesting, I'm going for it. An overview of the amount of data received and sent via the mobile site is available in the iPhone settings, but this application will probably handle it better.
