Specifically, the photos are part of a guide that tells resellers what silicone and leather cases to display during the fall 2018 season. The new Smart Battery Case is shown here as a black leather case for the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. However, the material just mentioned is rather non-standard, because in the past Apple's original charging cases were made of silicone. In addition to black, they were also available in white.

According to the aforementioned document for resellers, Apple is to offer its charging case this year, specifically by this Friday, December 21, when autumn officially ends. So it is possible that the Smart Battery Case for this year's iPhone models will go on sale this year. However, it seems more likely that the sale has been postponed until early next year. One way or another, it is already more or less clear that we will indeed see a new charging case.
