Ondrej Holzman ČSFD finally has a decent app in the App Store. That was the first thing that came to mind when I tried out the new application of the Czech-Slovak Film Database yesterday. And indeed – on the iPhone we can already access the popular database with all the comfort...
ČSFD for iPhone welcomes you with a pleasant graphic interface and a control element that we know from Facebook, i.e. a slide-out navigation panel, with the only difference that in the Czech application it is found on the right.
The home page offers an overview of the latest and most up-to-date - the latest trailers, news in cinemas, the most watched movies and also TV tips for every day. There is also a search field at the top of the screen, which is a very important element of the entire database. However, we can also search from the extended navigation panel. In it, you can log in to your ČSFD profile and thus have access to the list of films you want to see, your favorite items and your own rating.
Of course, every movie or series also has an extended description, practically in its complete form, as we know it from the web. Commentaries, interesting facts about the film and links to similar images are available here. You can also rate individual films on the ČSFD directly in the iPhone application, but only by the number of stars, writing additional text is not yet possible. When the detail of any movie or actor is open, you can slide out a panel at the bottom of the screen from which the given page can be shared on Facebook (Twitter is missing), then there are buttons in the menu for movies I want to see a I'm watching right now.
The already mentioned TV tips are very handy if you don't want to wade through extensive TV programs and are really only interested in movies and series that are likely to be worth watching. In the ČSFD application, you can choose from which stations the tips should be displayed to you, and you should no longer miss anything essential. You can display the program of individual days either by time or rating.
Much more than TV tips, however, I personally welcome the available cinema program. The ČSFD database is endless, everyone should really be able to find their favorite cinema here, and the program is excellent and well organized. You will also find a phone number and address for each cinema. The only thing I'm missing is the option to add selected cinemas to favorites, which can be partially replaced by at least the display of nearby cinemas. However, everything is better than accessing, for example, the unoptimized website of the Cinema City multi-cinema from a mobile phone.
Naturally, the ČSFD iPhone application also includes traditional rankings of the best/worst films and series. So everything seems to be great, but POMO Media Group s.r.o. crashes its application with one small thing. These are ads that make the experience of using the application unnecessarily unpleasant, regardless of the fact that they seem like an eyesore in a nice graphical interface. It's a shame, because I believe that users would be happy to pay at least the 89 cents for ČSFD.

Great, then deliver it to the US Store and give the option to remove ads. It's fine even for 89¢, I'll be using this app a lot :)
To get around the block somehow, I live in Ireland and the store can't find it either

I really don't know what the author gains by not putting the app on the US store. :(
It doesn't have DVD news, or I couldn't find it in the app, so it went away from the iPhone and I'm stuck with the website... :-(

The search works fine for me.
I agree to the paid version without ads. But what I mainly miss is the absence of a native version for the iPad :( besides, the environment is not very good either, so gloomy and not very clear. Otherwise, a good start, even though I've been waiting for this app for about 2 years..

Unfortunately, I can't download the app from the App Store, all the others without a problem...
Is there an option to show a TV program somewhere in that app? I use this on the web version very often, but here I only found TV Tips for the current day..

Why can't I see the image in the demos, only the sound? And the ČSFD can't even be found in the new iPhone.
