At its Keynote yesterday, Apple presented its four new iPhones – in addition to the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini, it was also the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro Max. In our article today, we will focus on the main differences in the technical specifications of the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 12 Pro.

Appearance and size

Co in terms of color, the iPhone 12 is available in white, black, blue, green and (PRODUCT) RED, while the iPhone 12 is available in silver, graphite grey, gold and pacific blue. The difference between the two models is also in the weight – the dimensions of the iPhone 12 are 146,7 mm x 71,5 mm x 7,4 mm, the weight is 162 grams, the dimensions of the iPhone 12 Pro are the same, but the weight is 187 grams. Both models are equipped with Ceramic Shield front tempered glass for greater durability. As for the chassis, aircraft-grade aluminum was used for the iPhone 12, while surgical steel was used for the iPhone 12 Pro. So the side of the iPhone 12 is matte, while the surgical steel of the iPhone 12 Pro is shiny. The power adapter and EarPods are missing from the packaging of both models, in addition to the iPhone itself, you will find documentation and a Lightning - USB-C cable in the packaging.

Display

The iPhone 12 Pro is equipped with an OLED Super Retina XDR display with a diagonal of 6,1 inches across the entire surface. The display resolution is 2532 × 1170 pixels at 460 PPI. The iPhone 12 has the same display, a 6,1-inch OLED Super Retina XDR display with a resolution of 2532 × 1170 at 460 PPI. Both models can boast an HDR display with True Tone, a wide color range (P3), Haptic Touch, a contrast ratio of 2:000 and an oleophobic treatment against fingerprints and smudges. But you can find the difference in the brightness of the two models - for the iPhone 000 Pro, Apple states a maximum brightness of 1 nits, in HDR 12 nits, while for the iPhone 800 it is 1200 nits (in HDR 12 nits).

Features, performance and durability

In terms of resistance, both models offer the same IP68 specification (up to 30 minutes at a depth of up to six meters). iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro are equipped with a 6-core Apple A14 Bionic processor with a 16-core Neural Engine of the new generation, the graphics accelerator then has 4 cores. The maximum clock speed of the processor should be 3.1 GHz, but this information is not yet confirmed. Both models are powered by a li-ion battery, the iPhone 12 promises up to 17 hours of video playback, up to 11 hours of video streaming and up to 65 hours of audio playback, the iPhone 12 Pro promises 17 hours of video playback, 11 hours of video streaming and up to 65 hours of audio playback. Both models offer the possibility of Qi wireless charging with a power consumption of up to 7,5 W and support for fast 20 W charging. Both models feature MagSafe charging technology, which can charge these devices at up to 15W. Both the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro feature a TrueDepth front-facing camera with Face ID, a barometer, a three-axis gyroscope, an accelerometer, a proximity sensor, and an ambient light sensor, the iPhone 12 Pro additionally still has a LiDAR scanner. iPhone 12 is available in 64 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB variants, iPhone 12 Pro will be available in 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB variants. iPhone 12 Pro offers 6 GB of RAM, iPhone 12 4 GB of RAM. Both models offer 5G connectivity for ultra-fast downloads and streaming in high quality.

Camera

One of the most striking differences between the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 12 Pro lies in the camera. The iPhone 12 Pro offers a photo system consisting of a 12MP ultra-wide camera (aperture ƒ/2,4), a wide-angle camera (aperture ƒ/1,6) and a camera with a telephoto lens (aperture ƒ/2,0), while the iPhone 12 features a photo system with 12MP ultra-wide-angle (aperture ƒ/2,4) and 12MP wide-angle (aperture ƒ/1,6) camera. In addition, the iPhone 12 Pro offers the option of taking portraits in night mode thanks to the LiDAR scanner. Portrait mode as such is offered by both models, but with the iPhone 12 there is software addition. The iPhone 12 Pro camera has 2x optical zoom, 2x optical zoom and up to 10x digital zoom. The iPhone 12 camera offers 2x optical zoom and up to 5x digital zoom. As the only phones in the world, iPhone 12 and 12 Pro can record in HDR Dolby Vision – iPhone 12 up to 30 fps and iPhone 12 Pro 60 fps. Both models offer 4K video recording capabilities at 24 fps, 30 fps or 60 fps, 1080p HD video at 30 fps or 60 fps, time-lapse shooting in night mode, stereo recording, and Smart HDR 3 for photos. In addition, the iPhone 12 Pro offers the ProRAW function and, compared to the iPhone 12, double optical image stabilization.
