September is successfully behind us and with it the long-awaited keynote at which Apple presented the new iPhone XS, XR and Apple Watch Series 4. However, there should be significantly more news for this autumn, so the eyes of all Apple fans are moving to October, when we were to see one more, and for this year the last, conference with new products. If we look at history, the second autumn keynote usually took place in October, so let's see what Apple might have in store for us.

iPhone XR and new iPads Pro

In addition to as yet unannounced news, in October we will see the start of sales of the cheaper iPhone XR, which will most likely arrive together with iOS 12.1. Apart from that, however, we can say with certainty that Apple will come out with new iPad Pros. They have been talked about for several months, just as studies, visualizations or concepts of what the news should look like have been published for several months.

Two variants are expected, the 11″ and 12,9″ versions. Both should have displays with minimal bezels, as well as the presence of Face ID, which should work in both vertical and horizontal views. With the arrival of Face ID and the expansion of the display, the Home Button should disappear from the iPad Pro, which is gradually becoming a thing of the past. New and more powerful hardware is a matter of course. In recent weeks, there has also been speculation that a USB-C connector should appear in the new iPads. However, in my opinion, this is not very likely. I'd rather see it on a USB-C compatible charger with an adapter for fast charging needs.

New MacBooks, iMacs and Mac Minis

The no less expected update should also arrive in the Mac menu, or MacBooks. After years of waiting, we should finally see an update (or replacement) for the obscurely dated MacBook Air. The 12″ MacBook will also see some changes. Ideally, Apple will overhaul its entire laptop lineup and make it a bit more meaningful by offering a cheaper (entry-level) model starting at $1000, and more expensive tiered configurations and variants ending in Pro models with Touch Bar.

In addition to laptops, Apple should also focus on another antique that has been haunting the Mac range for several years without a meaningful update - the Mac Mini. Once the gateway to the world of desktop Macs, it's now completely useless and definitely deserves an update. If we actually see it, we will probably have to say goodbye to the last remnants of modularity that the current, four-year-old versions have.

The classic iMac, which received its last hardware update last summer, should also see changes. There is relatively little information here, there is talk of updated hardware as well as new displays that should match 2018 in terms of features and parameters. It's possible we'll also hear some more information about next year's modular Mac Pro, which many professionals are eagerly awaiting.

Software news

That should be all from the hardware side, within the next four weeks we should see a sharp release, in addition to the already mentioned iOS 12.1, also watchOS 5.1 and macOS 10.14.1. As for individual features, the new iOS will bring depth-of-field control in Portrait mode, dual-SIM support in countries where this feature works, watchOS 5.1 will bring the long-awaited EEG feature (US only) and an improved Health interface. Probably the most anticipated new feature is group calls via Face Time, which ultimately did not appear in iOS 12/macOS 10.14 at the last minute. As it looks from the list above, we have a lot to look forward to in October.

P.S. Maybe even AirPower will arrive
