Apple was really generous yesterday. Next to its users iOS 5 offered a number of other news and updates. OS X Lion in version 10.7.2 supports iCloud, we have new applications Find My Friends and Cards, with Photo Stream comes new versions of iPhoto and Aperture. The recap can begin…

OS X 10.7.2

In order not to leave Macs deprived of the convenience of iCloud, an update was released with a new version. In addition to iCloud access, the update package includes improvements to Safari 5.1.1, Find My Mac, and Back to My Mac for accessing your Mac remotely from another Mac over the Internet.

Find My Friends

With iOS 5 comes a new geolocation application that can find out the location of your friends. In order to follow someone, you have to send them an invitation, and they have to send you an invitation in response. Thanks to two-way authentication, it is impossible for a stranger to find out your location. If he doesn't want you to be located at any time, there is also temporary tracking in the Find Friends app. If you leave the app for a few minutes, you'll be prompted for your Apple ID password. This provides better security against misuse of this service. We have tested the search for friends for you, so you can see how it looks in practice in the image below.

You can find Find My Friends free on the App Store.

iWork for iOS

Starting today, the new version of the mobile office applications Pages, Numbers and Keynote is available on the App Store. Added iCloud support. Thus, your work will not only be stored locally on the iDevice, but will be automatically uploaded to the apple cloud, which will greatly facilitate the synchronization of your documents. Of course, an internet connection is a must. Of course, if you choose not to use iCloud, you have that choice.

Both iPhoto and Aperture already support Photo Stream

With the arrival of OS X 10.7.2 and iCloud services, iPhoto and Aperture also received an update. In their new versions (iPhoto 9.2 and Aperture 3.2), both applications bring in particular support for Photo Stream, which is part of iCloud and enables easy sharing of photos taken across all devices. He will have the last thousand photos available on his Mac, iPhone or iPad, and as soon as a new one is added, it will be immediately sent to the other connected devices.

Of course, iPhoto 9.2 also brings other minor changes and improvements, but compatibility with iCloud and iOS 5 is key. You can download the new version of this application for managing and editing photos either via Software Update or from Mac App Store.

In Aperture 3.2, the update is similar, in the settings you can activate Photo Stream and set whether you want to update this album automatically. You can then insert photos from your library directly into Photo Stream. Several bugs that appeared in the previous version have also been fixed. You can download the new Aperture 3.2 from Mac App Store.

AirPort Utility

If you own an AirPort, you will be delighted with this utility. It can display your network topology, allow you to manage your network and its devices, create new networks, update AirPort firmware, and other advanced features related to computer networks. AirPort Utility is in the App Store for free download.

For film fans, Apple has prepared the iTunes Movie Trailers application

They also prepared an unexpected novelty for us today in Cupertino. The iTunes Movie Trailers app has appeared in the App Store and works on both iPhone and iPad. The name itself says a lot – Apple gives users easy access to previews of new movies, which they then sell in the iTunes Store. Trailers have so far only been found on site, in the iOS application you can also view movie posters or track when a film will be available in the built-in calendar.

Unfortunately, the application is only available in US App Store and it is not yet certain whether it will be released for other countries as well. In our country, however, we probably won't see it until movies start to be sold in iTunes in addition to music.

Send a postcard directly from your iPhone

Even another novelty, which Apple showed last week, is not yet available on the domestic App Store. It's a Cards app that lets you send postcards directly from your iPhone or iPod touch. The application offers many thematic suggestions, which you can choose from, then insert a photo or text and send it for processing. You can also choose an envelope.

Apple will print the postcard and then send it to the specified address, in the US it charges $2,99, if it goes abroad, it will cost $4,99. This means that we can also use Cards in the Czech Republic, although they are not available in our App Store. But if you have an American account, you can get Cards free download.
