The Galaxy Z Flip4 is supposed to be the killer of iPhones, so Samsung itself fits it into this role, with numerous advertisements broadcast in the USA, in which it primarily highlights its construction. It's a difference visible at first glance. But the phones really have a lot in common with the latter. Until the system.

Sure, Apple and its iPhones have iOS, Samsung and its Galaxy phones have Android and the South Korean manufacturer's own superstructure called One UI. It makes no sense to compare the systems, because their logic is different after all, even if they are similar in many ways. So let's focus more on what makes the Galaxy Z Flip4 stand out. Of course, it is precisely the flexible construction.

The foil bothers, the bend is fun

Prejudice is a pretty bad thing. If you approach something as if it's going to be bad, it's most likely going to be bad because you already have a preconceived idea about it. But I approached the new Flip differently. I didn't want to dismiss it ahead of time and was actually looking forward to trying it out. Even though it is the fourth generation, there are not so many differences compared to the first. The cameras have improved, the battery life has increased and, of course, the performance has jumped. Does this remind you of anything? Yes, the same strategy is followed by Apple, which updates its iPhones only sparingly.

Picking up a clamshell phone after 20 years is a clear trip to the past. However, it ends as soon as you open the phone. Because if you have it in this condition, it's a classic Samsung with its classic Android, which just has a slightly softer display. This is due to its technical limitation, which the manufacturer tries to circumvent a little with the present film.

So first to her. If you use films on your phones instead of glass, you know what it's like. It's actually the same here. It is softer than glass, but also less durable. On the other hand, it is thinner. Its presence is a condition, without it you should not use the device according to Samsung. But that film does not reach the edges of the display, for which I would be slapped, as well as for its cut-out near the front camera. It's a clear mess magnet that's practically impossible to remove. Yeah, this really bothers me because it doesn't even look pretty.

The second thing is the present bend in the display. I was quite scared of it, but the more I used the device, the more I actually enjoyed this feature. You could even say that I ran my finger over it with a certain fondness, whenever I could - whether when moving around the system, the web, applications, etc. Yes, it's visible, but it doesn't really matter. You approach it like it's here and it's going to be here. Compared to foil, it's a completely different user experience.

Performance does not need to be addressed

There is no need to contradict the fact that the performance of iPhones is top notch. In the world of Android, the current flagship is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, which also includes Flip4. So there is nothing to talk about here, because Samsung could not have put anything better into the guts of its device. Everything runs smoothly (on Android) and in an exemplary manner. Yes, it gets a little warm, but so do iPhones, so there's not much to complain about here. Samsung has also improved the battery compared to the previous generation, so it was no problem to get through a day and a half during test operation of the phone. Those who are used to charging daily will be fine. Even an avid user should give it a good day.

Compared to the iPhone 14, the Galaxy Z Flip4 takes more pleasing photos, not better quality. The phone colors them with its algorithms, so they look better. However, it is already clear from the perspective that Apple has the upper hand. Which is not necessarily a problem, because the Z Flip4 is not supposed to be a high-end device, but should rather fall into the upper middle class. If you want the best camera phone from Samsung, you'll be looking at the S series. It's like iPhones - if you want the best photos, you get the Pro series.

Who is better?

In terms of design, Samsung already added the Flex mode to the previous generation, which is based on the shape of the bend. It works across applications, where they concentrate content on one half of the phone and you have more control elements on the other. It is perfectly used, for example, with the camera. It's just fun because it's not the boring and ordinary Android, but it looks unusual.

And that's exactly the difference between iPhones and iOS. Is the iPhone 14 better? Yes, clearly for apple users, because they are so used to the system they use that they simply do not leave a thread dry on Android. And it is perhaps a pity, because they would understand that there are not only iPhones in the world, but also competing and very entertaining devices. Personally, I would be very interested to see how the same device, only with iOS, would be viewed.

The Galaxy from Flip4 is comparable in price to the iPhone 14, which is why Samsung also pits it against it. It may lose on paper, but it clearly leads with its originality and is simply fun, which is the biggest problem with the basic iPhone. He's just boring, no matter how hard he tries. So my personal opinion is that paper specs aside, the Galaxy Z Flip4 is better because it's more fun. But would I buy it instead of an iPhone? He didn't buy. No matter how you get used to Android, iOS is not and will not be, let these systems copy each other as they want. Apple simply has its users very well hooked, and Samsung will have to show something more than just an unusual design. But it has a really good tread.
