WWDC23 is getting closer every day. Leaks about what the new operating systems that Apple will present here will bring are also getting stronger every day. It is 100% certain that new versions of the operating systems that power iPhones, iPads, Apple Watch, Mac computers and Apple TV will be presented here. But there is only sketchy news about the last two, if any at all.

It's quite logical that we know the most about what iOS 17 looks like. This is because iPhones are Apple's most popular and best-selling products, and also the most publicized. About the Apple Watch and its watchOS, the fact that it is the best-selling watch in the world does not change the fact that it can only be used with iPhones. iPads are also among the market leaders, although the market for tablets is relatively declining. In addition, many new features of the iPadOS 17 system are identical to iOS 17.

Is homeOS coming yet?

Already in the past, we were able to get acquainted with the homeOS operating system, that is, at least on paper. Apple was looking for developers who would take care of this system for vacant job positions. But it's been more than a year, and this system is still nowhere. It was originally speculated that it could accommodate a family of smart home products, i.e. essentially just tvOS, i.e. the one for the HomePod or some smart display. But it could also just be an error in the ad that meant nothing more.

The only reports about tvOS practically agree that the user interface could be slightly modified, but what new to add to the TV? For example, users would certainly welcome a web browser, which Apple still stubbornly refuses in its Apple TV. But one cannot hope that there would be more, that is, with the exception of some small things, such as the integration of Apple Music Classical. There may be so few leaks about this system for two reasons, one being its renaming to homeOS and the other being that it simply won't bring any news. We wouldn't be at all surprised by the latter.

macOS 14

In the case of macOS, there is no need to doubt that its new version will come with the designation 14. But there is relatively silence about what it will bring as news. This may also be due to the fact that Macs are not doing well in sales at the moment, and that news about the system is rather overshadowed by information about upcoming hardware, which should also be waiting for us at WWDC23. It can also be for the simple reason that the news will be so few and so small that Apple manages to guard them. On the other hand, if stability had been worked on here and the system wouldn't just rise from the influx of new and for many unnecessary innovations, maybe it wouldn't be out of the question either.

However, the few pieces of information that have already leaked bring news about widgets, which should now be possible to add to the desktop as well. It mentions the gradual improvement of the functionality of Stage Manager and the arrival of more applications from iOS, namely Health, Watch, Translation and others. A redesign of the Mail app is also expected. If you want more, don't expect too much, lest you be disappointed. Of course, there is also a question mark over the name. Maybe we will finally see the Mammoth.

The stars will be others

It's clear that iOS will take the cake, but there may be one more thing that can turn the relatively few innovations that the operating systems bring into a big event. We are, of course, talking about the so-called realityOS or xrOS, which can be intended for Apple's headset for AR/VR consumption. Even if the product doesn't have to be introduced, Apple can already outline how the system will work so that developers can create their applications for it.
