The end of the year is slowly but surely approaching. What else awaits us from Apple in the New Year? Of course, there is not much, although it is not for nothing that they say that hope dies last.

Apple black friday

The first thing to look forward to is, of course, Black Friday. Although various e-shops sell it more or less throughout the year, the real Black Friday falls this year only on Friday, November 25. The one presented by Apple will then last until Monday, November 28. If the first Friday after Thanksgiving is black, then the first Monday after it is called Cyber Monday.

Apple doesn't have discounts, but you can at least get gift cards for your next purchase. The company will give you CZK 1 for iPhones, Apple Watch, iPads, Beats headphones and accessories, CZK 200 for AirPods and up to CZK 1 for your next purchase. It's not a miracle, but at Apple we've been used to this for years, so there won't be any surprises this year either.

Operating system

If Apple is only going to give out gift cards for buying its products, there's still something we can all get for free before the end of the year. That is, everyone who owns a given supported device. Of course, we are talking about operating system updates. Since Apple already released the first iOS 16.2 beta at the end of October, we should expect the final version of this system sometime in mid-December.

In short, even owners of iPads or Mac computers will not come, because the iPadOS 16.2 and macOS 13.1 updates (as well as tvOS 16.2) should also be available on the same date. We should then wait until March of next year for the next major decimal updates. The new update will bring our iPhones more frequent live activity updates, a new Home app architecture, or Sleep and Medicines widgets on the lock screen. We should also expect the announced Freeform applications, iPads will also get Stage Manager support for external displays.

Hardware

We know that Apple can sometimes surprise, but it is very unlikely that it will do so this year. On December 4, 2017, for example, he launched the sale of the Mac Pro, but we could somehow guess this from the fact that he presented it already in May. He presented his next generation in June 2019 and launched sales on December 10 of the same year. This year, nothing like that happened, or we didn't get a show with a delayed launch date.

The only thing that would theoretically be in play would be the 2nd generation AirPods Max. The first and still current one was introduced by Apple on the scene without any Keynote in the form of a press release on December 15, so there would still be time here. But since he did so in 2020, and in the case of the AirPods series, they keep updates for three years, it is more likely that we would wait until next Christmas season than this year. Computers are pushed back until next spring, and for that reason, it's actually all from Apple in 2022.
