Approval of patents is a long process, so even if the company filed them, it could have already installed its product with their issues, regardless of the result, whether such a patent will be granted or not. Here are the final four approved that we could see in some version of Apple's smart glasses or its headset. And that either in the first version or some subsequent generation.

Better audio listening

Longer latency has a clear effect on the quality of listening to music via Bluetooth. Apple knows this and is trying to address it. That's why he filed a patent, which shows a possible technology that would not transmit data wirelessly but optically. In such a case, however, there is a problem with obstacles that have a negative effect on the resulting quality. The solution to the transmission to the headphones would be to carry it out from the glasses, which are within direct range.

Adjustable lenses

The US Patent and Trademark Office officially granted Apple a patent, which refers to its future mixed reality glasses or headset solution with highly adjustable lenses. What is unique about this solution is that the lens system could adapt to multiple users with different vision defects such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, presbyopia, astigmatism and more.

This means that each lens would adjust differently as required by the user's eye. Each of the adjustable lenses would thus contain one or more cells of liquid crystal or other voltage-modulated optical material. Here, the control circuitry could monitor the user's gaze using a sensor system and adjust the position of the optically different area of the adjustable lenses to remain aligned with the user's gaze. This would eliminate the need to make any variants of the product and everyone could use it.

Projector mechanism enabling 3D virtual display

Apple also owns the patent, which allows him to implement a projection mechanism in his solution for projecting or otherwise displaying images, thereby providing the user with a 3D virtual display. The solution would thus include cameras or sensors pointing from the user, which would scan his surroundings and then give him fully modified virtual content combined with real space.

Thermal regulation

Apple is working on a thermal management system for its future mixed reality headset since at least 2018. One of the new patents then titled "Cooling and Noise Control for Head Mounted Devices". This cooling system may include a fan that directs air or fluid within, against, or across one or more components of the system. The fan can also contain multiple blades that can move and propel the air in the desired direction.

The blades can then be positioned at an angle (e.g. angle of attack) relative to their axis of rotation to ideally propel the air. A fan may include any mechanism that provides mechanical movement of a fluid (or gas). Examples include pumps, turbines, compressors, or blowers.
