On Friday, September 23, the long-awaited Apple is going on a sharp sale Watch Ultra. Apart from their unique appearance and functions, it also offers quite unusual straps. However, they are still based on the classic watch industry, where they are relatively widespread. But let's take a closer look at them.

Apple itself states about the Apple Watch Ultra: "Hikes, marathons, the deep. There's a strap for everything." We have to agree with him, because even with the palette of classic straps and pulls, his palette is really varied, whether we're talking about materials or fastening styles. We haven't had the trio of new straps with which the Apple Watch Ultra comes yet.

Special naming

However, Apple's terminology is a mystery to me. Here we have the Alpine and Trail traction and the Oceanic strap, which definitely do not refer to the traction in terms of their shape. The alpine pull, which has a buckle that you thread through previously prepared loops, is a parachute pull, which is currently used mainly with altimeters - it is also usually made of a flexible material.

As is the case with the Trail pull, it is definitely not a "pull", because the designation of pull applies in watchmaking to steel pulls, i.e. "metal" straps (figuratively speaking, as mentioned, it's not a strap, it's a pull). The ocean strap with a similar sense of attachment is labeled ZULU. However, it is true that the average user doesn't really care about these markings, the main thing is that it sounds good.

Interesting materials with titanium

Alpine pull is made from two textile layers, which are woven as one unit without seams. The clasp is titanium. The trail pull is supposed to be light, thin and flexible, at the same time it is only fastened with Velcro, so it can be tightened or loosened very easily and no titanium buckle is needed here. The ocean strap is molded from light and flexible fluoroelastomer rubber. It has a titanium buckle and an adjustable titanium buckle with a spring that secures the strap tubes.

The Apple Watch Ultra is only available in titanium, without any color finish. But you can already choose different combinations when choosing their belt/pull. For the Alpine pull, the colors are green, orange or star-white, for the Trail pull, they are blue-grey, black-grey and yellow-beige. The ocean strap is available in dark ink, white and yellow. The first mentioned is available in three sizes (small, medium, large), the Trail pull is offered in S/M and M/L variants.

Oceanic is only available in one version. But it is interesting that if it is short for you, you can buy its extension separately, when you get only the part without the buckle, for CZK 1, while this strap is suitable for wrists with a circumference of up to 490 mm. The standard length is 250 mm. The thing to think about here is that this strap is suitable for wearing a neoprene watch, so you have to take into account that your wrist will have a larger diameter.

Separate sale

However, Apple does not only offer new straps and "pulls" with new watch models. If you want to add them to the existing watch model, you can. No matter which color variant you go for, it will always cost you 2 CZK, but pay attention to which cases the new products are compatible with. Apple says they are only suitable for 990, 44 and 45mm case sizes.

Of course, you can also use your older straps with the new Apple Watch Ultra, that is, if you own the larger version. Most straps can be combined with any Apple Watch Series 3 or newer case of the same size. 41mm straps also fit 38mm and 40mm cases, 45mm straps also fit 42mm, 44mm and 49mm cases.
