If you own an Apple Watch, you probably have problems with the system automatically returning to the home screen from applications after a certain time interval. In practice, it works by turning on an app, working with it for a while, then hanging up the Apple Watch, which turns off the display, and when you turn the Apple Watch back on, you'll find that the system has automatically moved to the watch face screen. This may suit some users, however, most of us would certainly prefer if the system did not automatically return to the watch face after a certain time interval, just like in the case of iOS. Let's see together what you can do in this case.

What to do when Apple Watch automatically returns to the home screen

By default, your Apple Watch automatically returns to the home screen after two minutes of inactivity in a specific app. However, you can change this preference quite easily, both on the Apple Watch and in the Watch app on the iPhone. Below you will find both procedures:

Apple Watch

  • First, you need to your Apple Watch unlocked a they lit up.
  • Once you've done that, press digital crown (not the side button).
  • After pressing the digital crown, you will find yourself in the list of applications, where you can find and tap on Settings.
  • Here then it is necessary for you to move to the section In general.
  • After that, ride something below and locate the row wake up screen which you tap.
  • Here, then, go down again for something below to the category Return to the dial, where they are available four options:
    • Always: Apple Watch moves to the watch face immediately after exiting;
    • After 2 minutes: Apple Watch will move to the watch face after two minutes;
    • After 1 hour: Apple Watch will move to the watch face after one hour;
    • After pressing the crown: Apple Watch will return to the home screen just by pressing the digital crown.

Watch on iPhone

  • First, you need to open the app on your iPhone Watch.
  • Once you have done so, move to the section in the bottom menu My watch.
  • Then get off here below, until you hit the box In general, which you click.
  • Now you need to locate and tap on the line Wake up screen.
  • Here, then, go down again for something below to the category Back to watch face, where they are available four options:
    • Always: Apple Watch moves to the watch face immediately after exiting;
    • After 2 minutes: Apple Watch will move to the watch face after two minutes;
    • After 1 hour: Apple Watch will move to the watch face after one hour;
    • After pressing the crown: Apple Watch will return to the home screen just by pressing the digital crown.

In this way, you can easily set the time after which your Apple Watch will automatically move back to the home screen, i.e. the watch face. The automatic return of the Apple Watch to the watch face was one of the functions that I did not like on the apple watch from the very beginning. Fortunately, however, there is this option, with which you can deactivate the function, or reset it to After pressing the crown, which will prevent the watch from returning to the face.
