If we look at the sales of wearable accessories, we will find that AirPods, together with the Apple Watch, are in the first ranks - and not only that. Both of the mentioned apple products can significantly ease our daily work and increase efficiency. Sometimes, however, we can find ourselves in various problems, when even such smart devices can make their users pretty angry. I recently encountered a problem that was related to the AirPods. There was no way the user in question could get both headphones to connect to their iPhone at the same time - only one would always play. Let's see together what you can do in such a situation.

What to do when one AirPod doesn't work

In the event that you bought AirPods second-hand, you are trying to connect them for the first time and only one of the headphones is always playing, you should make sure that you do not have copies of the headphones. You can often recognize cheap copies at first sight and touch, compared to AirPods they are often larger and of lower quality material. Better quality copies will then be difficult to recognize, but still there are procedures that will help you - you can find one at this official page from Apple. If you can't get one of your AirPods to work, there is a fairly simple repair option that almost always works. It's all about unpairing the headphones with your iPhone, then resetting the AirPods themselves. Proceed as follows:

  • On your iPhone that you're unable to pair your AirPods with, go to the native app Settings.
  • Here it is necessary for you to move to the column Bluetooth.
  • Once you've done that, you'll be in your device list find your AirPods.
  • After you manage to locate the AirPods, tap on them icon in the circle as well.
  • Then tap on the next screen Ignore and finally tap on at the bottom Ignore device.

This way, you have successfully unpaired the headphones from your iPhones. Now you need to reset your AirPods:

  • First, it is necessary that you filed headphones to charging case.
  • After that, make sure that both the headphones and the case are at least partially charged.
  • After assurance, it is necessary that you they opened the lid charging case.
  • Once you do so, hold at least on 15 seconds button on the back of the case.
  • Diode inside (or on the front) of the case flashes red three times, and then it starts flash white.
  • Immediately after that, the button can let go thus you have successfully reset your AirPods.

Now all you have to do is pair your AirPods again in the classic way. Just open the lid near the iPhone, then tap the button to pair. If the above procedure did not help you, you can still try to reset the network settings. In this case, go to Settings -> General -> Reset, where you tap the option Reset network settings. Then authorize, enter the code and you're done. Note that this action will erase all saved Wi-Fi networks. If this does not help either, then one of the headphones most likely has a hardware problem - in this case, a complaint or the purchase of a new headphone will be necessary.
