What could the AirPods Max 2 borrow from the competition

Apple launched its AirPods Max on the market already on December 15, 2020, when many took their breath away. This is not only due to their original design, but also due to their high price. They are still headphones, but compared to classic AirPods, they are diametrically different thanks to the over-the-head design. Does it even make sense for Apple to introduce a second generation? 

AirPods Max stand out with perfect sound, adaptive equalizer, active noise cancellation and surround sound. The company also places great emphasis on comfort and convenience. But the headphones shouldn't be so heavy for that. Apple has experience with a similar design at Beats, but AirPod wanted to differentiate after all. Their shells are therefore aluminum instead of using plastic, and thus their weight is 385 g.

Light version 

At the end of the year, there was a lot of speculation about a possible successor, or at least another version that could complement the basic Max model. The nickname Sport, on which the next generation could be focused, was also discussed a lot. In that case, however, Apple would really have to go for a plastic construction. After all, there might not be anything wrong with the characteristic white, especially when it is the only color option in which it offers all its TWS AirPods. In terms of design, they could otherwise remain the same, but it would be useful to replace the crown with sensory buttons, because its control during some activity may not be accurate compared to simply pressing the buttons.

In this case, we are talking about a lighter version, which would deserve a revised case for its use in more demanding conditions, because the current one is not completely adequate in the field of headphone protection. The second way would of course be to add more options so that the novelty would be placed above the current AirPods Max.

Cable and lossless audio 

Apple is very involved in creation, of any kind. It also offers great headphones, but they still lack something. Apple Music is capable of lossless music, i.e. music that is streamed in the highest possible quality. Unfortunately, none of his AirPods headphones can play it. During wireless transmission, conversion and thus data loss naturally occur.

Apple would thus be directly offered to introduce headphones, which would be called AirPods Max Hi-Fi, for example, which would work in the same way as the existing ones, but would contain a connector with the help of which it could be connected to a music playing device with a cable without the need for any conversions and conversion (AirPods Max have a Lightning connector for charging them, you just need a reduction for playback). After all, no matter what codecs the company introduces, losses during wireless transmission will simply continue to occur.

A competitive solution 

What is the best competition for AirPods Max? She is quite rich, which you don't have to be to be able to afford her. This, of course, with regard to the recommended price of AirPods Max, which is CZK 16. These are, for example, Sony WH-490XM1000, Bose Noise Canceling Headphones 4 or Sennheiser MOMENTUM 700 Wireless. AirPods Max only support AAC and SBC codecs, while the Sony WH-3XM1000 can also support LDAC, Sennheiser and aptX, aptX LL. The Bose solution, on the other hand, has IPX4 water resistance, so they definitely don't mind a few drops of water.

When will we wait? 

Since the AirPods Max came like a bolt from the blue, it is possible that if we were to consider a lighter model, it could come at any time. Likewise, if we were only talking about expanding with other color combinations. However, we should wait a while for a full-fledged successor. Apple presents the successor to AirPods after 2,5 to 3 years, so if we were to stick to this scenario, we will not see it until the spring of 2023 at the earliest. and they will not just fall into the abyss of history, like so many pleasant, but unnecessarily expensive, solutions.
